    1. [TNLAKE] calling all descendants of Rawley or Raleigh Madding !
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: davyjones Surnames: Madding, Roberson, Grimes, Jones, Deen, Dean, Mays, Bridgeman, Renfro, Willett, Davis, Cranford, Thompson, Goad etc... Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.lake/947/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Madding/Roberson cousins, The grave marker of Rawley Madding (1785-1855) was recently discovered in an overgrown, abandoned cemetery in the Bailey Springs area near Florence, Alabama. Rawley was born in Pittsylvania Co. VA, served in the War of 1812 and moved to Maury Co. in the 1820s where he lived until his death. He had 19 living children at the time of his death through marriages to Sally Mays and Sally Bridgeman. Many of these children ended up in W. TN and W. KY including my own 3rd grandmother Anne T. Madding Roberson (wife of Wm. "Billy" Roberson) and many descendants lived (or still live) in the Obion Chapel area between Troy and Hornbeak, with other groups in Lake Co., Fulton Co. KY etc... A young Eagle Scout candidate, Davis Faulkner and his family, friends etc.. in the Florence, AL area are cleaning up, refencing, marking and preserving the cemetery and are planning to hold a dedication ceremony this Memorial Day. They are also looking for funds to help in the restoration of the cemetery ! (particularly refencing). Please contact me if you are interested in this project. Attached is a photo of Rawley's marker (long thought to have been buried in Maury Co. in an unmarked grave). This is a great project and they have already obtained historic cemetery designation from the State of Alabama. Only about 4 graves are still marked in this cemetery after 160 or so hard years! Help preserve our ancestor's memory for future generations! I have a small packet of info that I can snail mail if interested. This link will also take you to my posted info at the rootsweb world connect project: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=dajones&I11.x=34&I11.y=6 Thanks, David Jones in Richmond, MI, 3rd great grandson of Billy and Anne Madding Roberson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
