Thank you so much for putting the information regarding the Deaf School online. My great grandmother's sister, Margaret "Maggie" Brooks became deaf as a small child. She is listed as a student in 1877 Maggie was also orphaned as a small child and she later went to Laclede County, MO to be with her sister, my great grandmother, Elizabeth Brooks Sing. It was there that she met and married her husband, William Henry Turner, who later became a judge in Laclede County. Maggie's thirst for knowledge was nourished in her time at the Deaf School. She read all of Shakespeare and when she died, her obituary stated that she was the most beloved woman in Lebanon, Missouri. She and Judge Turner raised two children. Phyllis Wilson Carpenter
