Searching for any information on a James MORTON who was listed in the Anderson County, Tn 1830 census. After 1830, he disappears and I have not been able to locate him. I'm sure he came from NC to TN sometime between 1800-1817. 1830 Anderson County Census Morton, James 0000201 - 0012001 2 Males 20-30 1 Female 10-15 1 Male 40-50 (James) 2 Females 15-20 1 Female 40-50 (wife) Living next door is a Tilda MORTON. Haven't a clue as to who this could be, but judging by the age of both Tilda and James, I would think they are brother and sister. Morton, Tilda 00001 - 0000011 1 Male 20-30 1 Female 30-40 1 Female 40-50 (Tilda or "Matilda") Morton Family lore says that one brother of my gg-grandfather (David Morton) went to Rutherford County, TN, one to Bell County, KY and one to Blount County, TN. David's brother, Thomas, was in the 1840 Anderson County census and then disappears.
