Happy New Year Listers! Still trying to find out information on my Hugh Campbell, born 1801 in Knox Co. I believe his father was Robert. Robert's will shows siblings of Isaac, Jermiah, Matthew, Secula (married John Wallace), Nancy (married Thomas Rodgers), Mary Ann (married Henry F. Birely). Most of these marriage took place in Shelby CO., IN where the family moved in the very early 1820's. I need the name of Robert's wife. Also, does anyone on the List know if the Lebanon in the Forks Presbyterian Church (1791) still exists, or if not, where the church's old birth, marriage and death records might be kept? This family came from Augusta Co, VA on land grants to what is now Knox Co. for Revolutionary War Sevice. I know this line of Campbells has to relate to the other Campbells in the area at the time (Black David and White David). Any input is appreciated. Thanks and best regards, Laurel Campbell _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Hi List, My cousin John (whom I met on a Rootsweb List) is a young man of 22, in college, who started a genealogy project for school before he had a computer or anything. I think this website can help a lot of you. The primary names are above, but there thousands more. Give it a look-see: http://johnsrealmonline.com/genealogy/ There are pictures of graves and much much more! Conniesue --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi List, I am looking for a current living person named DON SMITH. Last year when I first started doing genealogy, I put "HOG JOHN SMITH" in Google and it came up with his name. I think he said Hog John is his great grandfather. He is also mine. Anyway, the email address that was listed was not any good, so I could never contact him. If you are on this List or if anyone knows him, please contact me. Conniesue --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). I have been trying to find information on my gggrandfather Reverend Stephen H. Hill who was a Reverend in the Knoxville TN area and was involved with different churches including : Chapel Hill Shieldstown 3rd Baptist Church His death was announced in the Knoxville Journal May 19,1897: "Rev. Stephen Hill Dead Well known Baptist Minister Passes Away. One of Knoxville's most respected citizens, Rev. Stephen Hill, died at his home on North central avenue yesterday morning. He is one of the best known Baptist ministers in this section and the news of his death will be quite a shock to his many friends in this city and the surrounding county. he was sick for only a short time with typhoid fever and even his family did not hink him dangerously ill until the day before he died. Mr Hill leaves a wife and five childrenh. The funeral will be conducted from the residence this morning and the remains will be interred in Hubb's burying ground a few miles east of the city. Deceased entered the ministry when he was forty years of age and for the last twenty-five years of his life he has preached at different places around the country. he is well known throughout this city. He spent several years of his life preaching to the poorer classes on the streets and in houses where the poor could hear him. his was a very useful life and he will be remembered by unfortunates of this city." Would I be able to find an obituary in a church record or minutes that might shed some information on his parentage and relevant information or any suggestions how to search. sincerely . Barring foul weather (which in East TN means 1/4" of snow on the roads <g>), Sevier County Heritage Museum is hosting a lecture on the Civil War in Sevier and surrounding counties by Dorothy Kelly, former president of the Knoxville Civil War Roundtable, on Sunday, January 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the museum. This is in observance of the 137th anniversary of the Battle of Fair Garden, which was one of two Civil War battles in Sevier County. For directions and additional details, visit http://www.korrnet.org/schm/ If we have to postpone for weather, be sure to visit the site for the new date.
