    1. [TN-KNOX] Re:Attn Karen Census Look UP
    2. Karen-- I would love a look up for Thomas Emmett Champion, approximate arrival in Tenn 1864 and later. He became an attorney in a law firm in Knoxville. We believe he died June 13,1873. He was born in New York in 1825, served as Brig Gen in Civil War. I found an index to his inventory at time of death was in Campbell County I would like to find this family and an address in Knoxville and who was with him. Think he had a son Charles, Hattie(who married the lawyer Anderson in1880), Fred E. born1854, Frank L born 1868, and George Byron birth unknown, death 1872. Believe Frank & George were born after he returned from the Civil War and went to Tenn.( When he served in the War he served as President of Military Commisssion in Nashville before moving to Knoxville at the end of the war.) He is buried in Old Grey Cemetery in Knoxville. Havent been able to find birth or death certificate, or where the kids were born for sure. The census may be a starting point. Thanks Ann

    2. I've got the 1880 census index from LDS for the entire US. Who do you need? (Because of similarity of some names, give as much identifying info as possible. (& I work 12 hour night shifts, so sometimes I don't get back with folks immediately.) Karen

    1. Re: [TN-KNOX]- 1900, 1910 census
    2. For 1880 I have two families I am interested in: 1) James and Miranda Martin, should have a son named John Edward Martin about 8 years old. 2) Andrew and Christine Evans, should have a daughter named Martha about 2 or 3 years old. I am assuming these families lived in Knoxville, because that is where they were married. I may be wrong, though. Thank you very much! ~Amanda~

    3. Hi Barb, I think you and I have emailed before. I am descended from the Cocke County Thomases. My direct line, George I. Thomas came to Knox County about 1900-1910. I am a 3rd cousin (once removed) of Bill Thomas in Jefferson County. One of these days we are going to connect our Thomas to the Blount County family. So close and yet so far! Bonnie BTW, Bill & I will be hosting a THOMAS table at the east Tenn. Pioneer's Reunion this summer in Powell. Some of their children & grandchildren, Adam Thomas b. 1770 and his kids moved to Knox in about 1830, or before. I am not sure of where some of Adam's brothers went. George, John, and Henry. 2. Bonnie Chaffin
    3. Hi SB, Renfro is (at the moment), my main brick wall. I have been looking for the parents of Nancy (Nannie) Caroline Renfro who married (in KNOX Co.) in 1891 to John H. LYLE(S). I know there are lots of Renfro's in the KNOX area, but I can't seem to find Nancy. I found a J.J. Renfro with a daughter Nancy about the right age in Cumberland Co., Tennessee, USA, on the 1880 census. That's the closest I have come so far. If you or anyone else recognizes this Renfro family, I;d love to hear from you.
