    1. [TN-KNOX] JESSE LEE MOORE NC>TN> AR
    2. Edith Pimentel
    3. In the beginning I must state I have no documentation of the birth and marriage dates of Jesse Lee, one of my paternal gr. grandparents. I do however have information on his death, in fact five versions of that tragic event have been presented. I am seeking further information about Jesse’s parentage. Any leads you have will be appreciated. According to the American Compendium of Genealogy: Jesse Lee MOORE: b. 11 May 1827, Randolph Co., NC., marr. 4 Mar 1848., Knox Co., TN. d. 11 June 1863, Hot Spring Co., AR. + Roina Blake HARDIN, b. 15 Apr 1832, NC., d. 28 May, 1928, Hot Spring Co., AR. 1850 Federal Census McNairy Co., TN. Jesse and Roina were shown with only one son. Edward wasn’t born when the census taker came to call! 1860 Federal Census, they are listed in Hot Spring Co., AR., They were shown with only five children, Rozeta was born after the census taker came on 2 Jun 1860! They were the parents of seven children, John Wilkie, b. 27 Nov 1848, Knox Co., TN. Edward Wade, b. 30 Sep 1850, Knox Co., TN. Elizabeth Frances, b. 13 Feb 1853, Hot Spring Co., AR., William Lindsey, b. 30 Sep 1855, Hot Spring Co., AR. Mary Jane, b. 7 Nov 1857, Hot Spring Co., AR. Rozeta T. , b. 2 July 1860 Hot Spring Co., AR. Jesse Lee Jr., 4 Mar 1863, Hot Spring Co., AR. The following is one version of the death of Jesse. “Jesse joined the Union Army when the Civil War began and his alliance with the North in Arkansas did not make other family members happy. While serving in the Union army, Jesse came home to visit his wife and children. It was Roina’s sister’s son, Conley Smith, who sneaked off toward the ‘cross roads’ to tell the Hardage boys (also relatives) that Jesse had come home. It has been said that Jesse had been a prisoner for a short while and then escaped. Before daylight, he was kidnaped by ‘bush whackers’ about one mile southwest of Caney Baptist Church. That area was later known as the Evil Smith place. They murdered him, dug a hold, buried the body in it and then rode horses over the grave. A lady, name unknown, walked ten miles to tell his wife and children about the terrible deed that had been done. His wife, Roina and his sons, John and Edward, with another lady, went in an ox wagon and recovered the body. They wrapped his body in sheets and brought him home and buried him ‘rightly’ at Burnett Cemetery at Malvern, Hot Spring Co., AR.” Today, almost 139 years later, his grave, along with that of Roina and her second husband, William Riley THORNTON, are marked by three white headstones that glisten in the spring sunshine. I suspect both Roina and Jesse moved to Knox Co., TN. with their families. They married there and then moved on west. Roina's father, and a married sister were in McNairy Co., TN., in 1850 census. I will be most appreciative of any assistance in getting around, under, or over Jesse's brick wall! Marketta Pimentel in Madera. Geographical center of CA.

    1. [TN-KNOX] Thomas Rees Price and Abram Jones Price
    2. Heather Francis
    3. I am looking for any family of Thomas Rees Price and his brother, Abram Jones Price. Their parents were Jonathan and Elizabeth J. Price. Elizabeth J. was born 17 Oct 1816 and died 1885. I believe she died in Knox County, Tennessee. She is buried in Old Grey Cemetery in Knoxville. There are suppose to be ten children for Jonathan and Elizabeth Price. I found the family in the 1840 and 1850 Census records for Schuylkill, PA and the children all matched the bible records, except in the 1850 there was a William that was 2 years old. I would like to find the other siblings of Thomas and Abram. I am not sure if and when they came to Tennessee. Elizabeth listed in her will two sons, Thomas and Abram. No other children were listed. In information from a family bible Abram was listed as Abraham and had a twin sister, Cathrein. The other names are Ann, Margaret, David, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jonathan E., Thomas Rees, Abraham (Abram) and Cathrein. Thomas married Annie Ri! chards in 1874 in Knox County. Abram also married an Annie Richards in 1879 in Knox County. Some how I think these two women are related, but they are not the same person. If you could help me with this family I would appreciate it. Heather Francis --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Games - play chess, backgammon, pool and more
