    1. [TN-KNOX] Please help spread the word
    2. Just got back from the National Genealogy Society Conference in the States in Milwaukee. One of the speakers there was Megan Smolenyak talking about the Korean War Repatriation Project. Please, if any of you know anyone who served in the Korean War, please have them check the www.koreanwar.org site. They have over 8000 soldiers who were missing in action during the war and are beginning to get some of the remains back from North Korea. They're trying to literally "bring the boys back home" by identifying them and getting their remains buried with family members. Sometimes they don't have cases they are currently working on identifying, sometimes they do...but it is important that people be aware of what is happening. This is sponsored by the government, assisted by professional genealogists who are trying to locate relatives of these soldiers to establish a positive ID (possible now through mtDNA). Some are thrilled to have their "boys" come home, some could care less, but if we could at least get id's on them, so they can be brought home with the honor they deserve. If you knew people who served, or people who were lost in Korea, do register at the site. What you know might help identify somebody at some future point, even if you're not related to them. And spread the word.

    3. i didn't think that they would do anything to help because I just don't know what is going on. I know something is wrong, I didn't get into the detail on my email, but I am 99% sure something is not right. there are two people in tn who have contacted me asking me for family information, even asked for my gedcom file, who say they are asking for the private information in the name of my brother. one of those people is his wife, a known alcoholic and criminal. I believe there is every indication that she is trying to do something, not sure what, but it would seem my brother is not there and she and another person my be trying to do a little identity thief. I have called, and emailed and asked to talk to my brother, as soon as I did that, things changed. I know you will not understand this, but I am sure that there is something illegal trying to or is happening here. that's where the problem is, its just an indication and I didn't think your police department would help, guess you could say I have been trying to investigate it myself to prove it. I know they will say I am just being a worry wart, but I know this woman and her history, you cant trust her! and if she was not up to something, why say its in my brothers name and then when I ask to speak to him, take off running. Now its either her up to no good or there are two other people in tn up to no good either way I believe the only way now is for me to get some help down there. if they will help me and you can tell me who, where, what number I would be glad to call them. and thank you very very much to helping me you can not know how much that means to me. here is the information you will need. 2. Heather Francis
    3. I am hoping to find the family of David C. and Magdalene Richards. From cemetery records David was born on March 31, 1838 and died on July 7, 1902. Mary Magdalene was born January 1, 1840 and died April 8, 1908. I have a copy of David's will from 1893. He lists the following children listed in his will: William P., Arthur T., Roger P., Thomas P., Margaret and Jennie. Margaret was married by the time the will was written and her last name looks to be Warters. Jennie is not said to be married yet. I have also found this family in the 1880 Census in Knox County, TN. 3. I am passing this information along because it sounds very promising. It's a peer-to-peer application, a little like the Napster application, where music lovers could search for, and download, millions of music CDs or individual songs. It's a new use of technology to search for roots. I'm not endorsing it....just passing along information for you to check out yourself. > Several people at Brigham Young University have finalized a new, > peer-to-peer network for > genealogy.
