    3. >From "Minutes of Davis Creek Baptist Church" by copyright 1968 by Lawrence Edwards these minutes cover 1797-1907. Davis Creek Baptist Church is located in Grainger County. These are the references to RIGGS Pg. 177 April 1st. Saturday 1891 The Church met at Davis Creek , after preaching invited visiting brethren and sisters to seats with us,then opened the door for the reception of members, By motion,Samson Edwards and J. Owens were chosen to be ordained deacons at our next meeting,and Malinda Edwards and Mary Owens as deconesses. The church agrees to take the sacraments at the May meeting to invite the following churches viz Pleasant Point ,Big Barren, Cave Springs and Union, also invited Elders Eli Branson and J.W.RIGGS to assist in the ordination of the above deacons Done by order of the church Henry Ausmus Moderator J.Owens church clerk. Page 185 and 186 and 192 J.W. Riggs signed as Moderator protem Page. 193 1st. sat. 1896 W.S. Riggs received into membership by letter Also in "SKETCHES OF TENNESSEE PIONEER BAPTIST PREACHERS" by J.J. Burnett references on page 417 Rec. Jesse Riggs: Forty years a Baptist Minister at Double Springs Baptist Church continuously. Born August 22,1792; died January 27,1869 -tombstone inscription at Double Springs Church He was married to Mary Ann barron Riggs August 12, 1813 and to Hannah Humphreys november 4,1858 There are also several references to Brother W.R.
