Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nhB.2ACI/1292 Message Board Post: Does anybody have any info on Nicholas B. Swann (1808-1881)? He was my great-grandmother's father but I can't find out who her mother was. Nicholas' parents were Samuel Swann & Catherine Seahorn Swann. He was a twin. (His twin was named Elizabeth.) He appears to have lived most of his life in Jefferson County, TN but in all census records he doesn't list a wife. In 1850 his household includes his mother, Catherine & sister, Melinda. This is the year my gr grandmother was born. This continues throughout his life. In his final census (1880) he is living next door to my great-grandparents & his household includes his sister, Melinda Seahorn, and several of his other children, all in their twenties. So there must have been a wife somewhere, sometime! He was sheriff of Jefferson County 1864-1866. The family of Samuel Swann & Catherine Seahorn Swann is well documented in many genealogy websites, including their children's spouses & descendants. Nicholas is usually listed but there is nothing about Nicholas' spouse/spouses or children. For some time I've thought he was my grgrandmother's father but I just yesterday confirmed it with a copy of Nicholas' will, which names her, using her married name. Any info or advice will be appreciated. Barb Moore
