I have seen that map before (through the Jefferson County website), although it's a bit difficult to make much out. However, I would agree that Bent Creek should fall in the 15th district (according to the 1836 map). The problem that I've run into is that I recently went through the deed index, where I found a number of transactions for Courtney's buying/selling land on Bent Creek. In some entries, only Bent Creek is noted. In others, Bent Creek - 15th C.D. is noted. The problem is that when I go to the 1850 census, the same individuals who were purchasing land on Bent Creek, are enumerated in the 13th C.D. This makes things a bit difficult because I have a number of individuals sharing like names (William Courtney, James Courtney, etc.), so it's important for me to know precisely which district Bent Creek fell in. I need to somehow figure out why they are enumerated in the 13th district, when the land they purchased should be in the 15th district. Any suggestions? Morgan
