    3. I just signed on to this list and would like to know if anyone else is working on these families. I think they came to Jefferson County from Orange Co NC about 1820, and there were several marriages among the group. Judy Dukes in Indiana

    1. [TNJefferson] STOCKTONS, NORRIS and RAMSEY
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Good Morning, I have not posted a query to the list in a long time and would like to know if anybody has any links to any of these families. I will start with my 4th great-grand father, Rev. Thomas Means RENEAU. Rev. Thomas Means RENEAU RS-VA (1760-1840) married Jane RAMSEY (ABT 1765-1851), d/o Reynolds RAMSEY and Naomi ALEXANDER of Swan Pond, Knox County, Tennessee. Rev. RENEAU died in Blue River TWP, Harrison County, Indiana Their son, the Hon. Louis O. RENEAU, Esq. (1784-1863) married a Jane NORRIS ABT 1806. Some say her name was MORRIS but I do not think so, because they named one of their sons, Norris RENEAU and he ran a fleet of CSA privateers based out of Savannah during the CW. Louis, an attorney and state representative in TN, died in Savannah, Chatham County, GA and was buried, there. Louis and Jane's son, Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865) married Elizabeth STOCKTON (1808-1888) on 7 Jul 1829. Rev. RENEAU was a Presiding Elder in the Methodist Church both in the GA and AR Conferences. He died in Brownstown, Sevier County, AR and Elizabeth in Glen Rose, Somervell County, Texas. Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912) was born in Jefferson County, TN and married Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) in 1852 as his 4th wife. She and RWD are my great-grandparents. After he died in 1865, Mary Jane married Professor Winfield Montgomery RIVERS (1824-1905) of James Island, SC, as his second wife in 1867. She and Professor RIVERS are buried in Madison, Morgan County, GA. Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924) married John C. RICHTER, Sr. (1848-1907) of Madison, Morgan County, GA in 1872, marriage preformed by Dr. David WILLS, President of Oglethorpe University. JCR and AED are my grandparents and both are buried in Madison, GA. There is also a Thomas NORRIS, Esq. who died in Madison, Morgan County, GA in 1816 and he was living in Edgefield County, SC, earlier. I also think the NORRIS family of Emanuel County, Ga may have been a part of this same overall NORRIS family. The STOCKTONS I believe had the name, Samuel, in their family because one of Russell's and Elizabeth's children was Samuel Locke RENEAU born 1836. I know this Samuel married a Julia S. and later lived near Memphis, TN. I also think this Elizabeth STOCKTON was a descendant of the Richard STOCKTON, Esq. family of Princeton, NJ but that is just a guess based upon this families connection to a POTTER family of Charleston, since the mother of John C. RICHTER was also a POTTER. I do have many pictures of this family. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
