    2. Jessie, There were approximately 35,000 men from East Tennessee who fought for the Union during the Civil War. There is a book in the State archives in Nashville that lists all the military organizations and the men in them. The name of the book is " Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Tennessee of the Military Forces of the State from 1861 to 1865". It was printed for the State in Nashville, Tennessee by B.C. Mercer who was printer to the state in 1866.
