This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: North Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nhB.2ACI/1192.2 Message Board Post: Dear cousin, I'm related to them and to you. I'm a direct descendant of John and Elizabeth North -- although my records say "Lester" for her maiden name -- where did you get "Luster"? Do you have any more on the ancestors of those two? I'm descended from their son Andrew Johnson ("Johnse") North (1866-1923). I own John C. North's walking stick as well as a photo of him holding it! I look more like him than like any other ancestor of mine. Our family tells a tale that Elizabeth hid John from having to serve in the Civil War when they came to conscript him! I'm not sure whether she hid him from the bluecoats or the graycoats. Given the divided state of E TN, probably both! I'm collaterally descended from Callie, but I can put you in touch with my cousins, two direct descendants of theirs in Los Angeles. Let me get to my files and I'll send you what I have. Please let me know exactly what info you'd like. Jim Does anyone have any information about this couple. Caroline was the daughter of John C. North (01/01/1825-04/19/1901) & Elizabeth Luster (07/03/1836-06/29/1916). John & Elizabeth North lived their entire life in Jefferson County and are buried in Hopewell Cemetery. They are my great grandparents and I've spent a long time trying to find out something about them. I've sent for every document you can name and finally decided to try researching them through their daughter's married names hoping that one of thier descendants has some info. Thanks in advance for ANY info you can offer. My direct email: Mooretalk1@aol.com Sincerely, Barbara Moore
