    1. [TNJefferson] Re: Captain Edward RIGGS, LT. Samuel RIGGS and his son Jesse Riggs
    2. Captain Edward RIGGS died in Jefferson County, Tennessee in Dec 1819 and is buried somewhere close to Morristown in Hamblen County. His son Samuel is in an unmarked grave close to RIGGS Cemetery North East of Morristown; the RIGGS Cemetery has the remains of Samuel's son Jesse and Jessee's wife and daughter. This Jesse is said to have served in the War of 1812............His grave beside his wife is unmarked. It would be nice if the RIGGS descendants of OLD Captain Edward RIGGS [1720--1819] and his son Samuel RIGGS [1760--1846] and Sams son Jesse RIGGS got memorial markers and placed all of them side by side in this ABANDONED and grown over RIGGS Cemetery. Historical records state that Jesse is buried beside his wife in an unmarked grave and his father Samuel is buried in an unmarked grave on an adjacent farm. Jesse could be placed by his wifes stone and then his father Samuel and then Samuel's father Captain Edward RIGGS. The names of Captain Edward RIGGS children and the names of Samuels children could be enscribed on the back of each of their stones with a note explaining "Exact burial location unknown" on the back of each. Captain Edward RIGGS [1720--1819] Revolutionary War Service is well researched and in Historical Records and his son Samuel made two applications for Pension for his service in the Rev War. One in 1832 as an enlisted man and one in 1845 as an OFFICER; as a Lieutenant. I saw somewhere that Jesse RIGGS served in the company of Captain Clisby RIGGS in the War of 1812........It should be recorded somewhere. NOTE: There were several Jesse RIGGS who served in War of 1812 from East Tennessee. How is all this for a suggestion. Would make a beautiful ceremony to place a stone for a Father and son who both served in the Revolutionary War and one for an 1812 veteran at the same time. WISHFUL THINKING..... Bobby G. Carwile
