Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nhB.2ACI/1261 Message Board Post: I am currently looking through early Hamblen County court minutes, where I have found a number of references to a Haynes Gap in the description of road orders. In looking at a present-day map of Hamblen County, I can't seem to find such a location. Does anyone happen to have any knowledge of where Haynes Gap was in the 1870's? I would presume that this was a location prior to the formation of Hamblen County and would have fallen in Jefferson County at such time. So my inquiry is not necessarily specific to the 1870's; rather, Hanynes Gap in general, at any point in time. To be a little more specific, the road orders usually state the following: "...road of the 2nd class from the Dandridge road to Haynes Gap..." I'm trying to figure out where this is located so I can have a better idea of where the particular farms were located, relating to the individuals assigned to work on the road. If anyone has any knowledge of Haynes Gap and might be able to tell me where it was/is located, I would appreciate it. Regards, Morgan H Courtney
