    2. I am seeking information on John Low(e) and his sons Jacob, (maybe) Abraham, and (maybe) John. They came to Jefferson Co TN circa 1800 from the Shenandoah Valley of VA. John was born circa 1760-70. His sons were born in the 1790's. Son Jacob married Eliza Rodgers/Rogers in Knox county in 1816. They allegedly lived at some time near Dandridge.

His property adjoined that of Gideon MORRIS who donated the first land to start the city of Morristown, TN. He is most likely buried NEAR Morristown, TN. Seeking burial location of Reuben RIGGS [1747--1837] born in NJ and died in Giles Co, TN. Married to Mary CRAWFORD. My info points to Reuben being son of the above Captain Edward RIGGS. Seeking burial site of William RIGGS [1784--aft 1860] in Giles Co, TN. He was son of Reuben RIGGS and was married to Mildred "Millie" McGHEE.     3. Intersting! My husband's Bennett family has been hard to trace. The earliest we have so far is his great-grandfather William Lafollott Bennett born 1866 died 1934. He lived in Hamilton County, TN. His grandfather was Benjamin "Ben" Franklin Bennett born 31 August 1889 died March 1971 who lived in Hamilton County, TN. I wonder if it is possible that you family and ours are connected. The East Tennessee Historical Society is hosting a free workshop with Tony Burroughs, one of the nation’s leading experts on African American genealogy, and the recent author of Black Roots: A Beginners Guide to Tracing the African American Family Tree. The workshop will be held at the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville (600 Market Street), on Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will cover a variety of topics: “Researching Vital Records,” “Tracing African Americans in Cities and Towns,” “Problem Solving in African American Genealogy,” and “Out of the Mouth of Slaves.” The topics will touch on a variety of subjects including census research, oral histories of slaves, finding new sources for research and similar topics. Tony Burroughs is an internationally known genealogist, and author, who teaches genealogy at Chicago State University. He lectures throughout the United States and Canada on all aspects of genealogy. He is the author of Black Roots: A Beginners Guide to Tracing the African American Family Tree. He is a Fellow of the Utah Genealogical Association (FUGA) and was also awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the National Genealogical Society. The East Tennessee Historical Society, headquartered in Knoxville, is one of the oldest cultural institutions in the state of Tennessee. Founded in 1834, ETHS is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history of East Tennessee.
