    3. Hi, This is a very interesting post - MOORES, GREENE, BOLLING and MAY family, especially tied to Jefferson County, TN -- the home of my RENEAU family. I also know that a Rev. MOORE of the AR Conference of the Methodist Church wrote a nice memorial to my 2nd GGF, Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865), for the History of Southern Methodism -- the Holston Conference published in 1913. There was also a Russell RENEAU MOORE who descended from this ME preacher, as I remember. Anyway, the O'DANIELS., MOXLEYS, BOLLINGS, ERWINS are all tied up in Fairfax County, VA, as well as over in Stafford - a lot of Northern Neck families. Some of this same O'DANIEL family from Fairfax later came down to Edgefield County, SC, as well as Hancock County, GA. They also changed their name to DANIEL or DANIELL, dropping the O' part of it in the process. The RENEAU family of Jefferson County, TN was from this same general area of VA as the O'DANIELS, et. al. and parts of this RENEAU family also ended up in Jefferson County, GA. Rev. Russell's daughter, Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912) married Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA in 1852 as his 4th wife. There are also MOORES and GREENS all over this family but we do not know where they were from. There are also MARSHALLS, RAIFORDS, WISE, ERWIN and TARVERS are connected to this bunch in Jefferson County, GA. We also know that one of the O'DANIEL kids of boys married a MAY or MAYS. Frances O'DANIEL born about 1750 married a MAY and they came to SC. There is also a Josiah DANIEL of Beaufort District SC who married an Elizabeth MAY, daughter of John MAY and Mary STAFFORD, in 1772. We do not know if Josiah was a DANIEL or an O'DANIEL My RENEAU family of Jefferson County, TN descends from Thomas Means RENEAU RS-VA (1760-1840) who married a Jane RAMSEY. Their son, the Hon. Louis O RENEAU, Esq. (1784-1863) married a Jane NORRIS and settled in Jefferson County, TN where their son, Rev. RENEAU, was born in 1807. Louis, an attorney, also represented Jefferson County in the TN Legislature for several terms. Rev. RENEAU, their oldest son, married an Elizabeth STOCKTON (1808-1888) in 1829 and I believe her to have descended from Samuel STOCKTON, son of Richard, of Princeton, NJ. This is based upon the fact that one of his and Elizabeth's sons was named Samuel Locke RENEAU born 1845. Rev. RENEAU died in Brownstown, Sevier County, AR in 1865, even though he was then the Presiding Elder of the Clarksville, Johnson County, AR District of the Methodist Church. However, we do not know where he was buried. His wife, Elizabeth Stockton RENEAU, died in Glen Rose, Somervell County, TX in 1888 and was buried there. Mary Jane RENEAU remarried after he husband, Robert DANIEL, died in 1865 and she is buried in Madison, Morgan County, GA as Mrs. William Montgomery RIVERS. The RIVERS family was of James Island, SC. 3. Hi Ray, Did any of your Lewis family move into northern AL and marry into the McCulley family? Nancy Lewis is my gg grandmother and her father was George Washington Lewis, son of Amos, who was the son of George Lewis born 1744 in VA. McCulleys were in Jefferson county TN, before moving to Jackson county, AL. Also have a Whitaker that marries one of my Keels. What is the URL for your Lewis family? Thanks. Also we are almost neighbors - three hours northeast of you in Elkhart, IN. Small world! 2. Bonnie Chaffin
    3. Wanda, I could be wrong about this but I don't think Tennessee has birth records before 1900. That is with the exception of those larger counties that did keep records prior to that date. I tried for a copy of my grandfather from 1892 in Jefferson County and the dept of vital statistics sent back my request. Check the following link. Maybe you will have better success. http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/pubsvs/mailstat.htm#Births http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/pubsvs/mailstat.htm#Deaths Bonnie ----- Original Message ----- From: <Wrcounsil@aol.com> To: <TNJEFFER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 1:12 PM Subject: [TNJefferson] Birth Look up please > I appreciate any help I can get on this issue. > > I am looking for Birth records for Horace Lee Blackburn born TN. 1893. 1. [TNJefferson] Personal website
    2. Bridgett Schneider
    3. Hi folks, After a few years, I have finally gotten around to updating my personal website. My ancestors came to East TN (Greene and Jefferson Counties to be specific) before 1810. Well, all except 2 lines and both those lines came to East TN after the civil war (Edwards who came to Jefferson Co from Buncombe Co, NC and Duncan who came from Greenville Co. SC). Those surnames in Jefferson County are: Chaney, Edwards, Frank, Moree, Parmer, Witt -- etc. Stop by and look around and drop me a note if we have some common ancestors! http://bridgett.maddoc.net/ Cheers,-- Bridgett
