    3. Hi, I am new to the list and this is my first post. Genealogy has been my hobby for about 8 years now, and I have made some progress even though there have been many blocks in the way. My newest research is trying to locate more info on Cal and Mary Pendergrass Stinnett. Cal /AKA/ James Calvin Stinnett was my Great uncle, born 27-Jul-1868, Maryville, Blount County, Tennessee, died 30-Jan-1934, Knox County, Tennessee. He resided in both Knox and Jefferson Counties, and is buried at Westview Cemetery, Jefferson City, Jefferson County, Tennessee. He married Mary Pendergrass 18-Oct-1899 in Jefferson County, who was born 01-Oct-1882, Jefferson County, died 08-Sep-1949, Jefferson County, buried also at Westview. According to my information, Mary was the daughter of Walter Pendergrass. Spelling of the name on the marriage certificate for Uncle Cal was Cal Stinett. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Elizabeth __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New DSL Internet Access from SBC & Yahoo! http://sbc.yahoo.com

    2. L Bennett
    3. Gloria, I have a Joseph Graham who married a Miss Sarah Hill in 1812 at Jefferson County, TN. The family lived near Sehorn Ferry. Today that area is where the Swan Boatdock is located near the mouth of Sehorn Creek near Dandridge, TN. The Hills lived in that area. Their is a five volume set of books by R.N. Price titled "Holston Methodism" that might have information about your Methodist ancestor. Bishop Asbury's notes might also have data you need. I do not know where to find the latter, but some libraries have the "Holston Methodist" books. I saw the books at the Washington County, Virginia County Archives at the courthouse in Abingdon, VA. I noticed your last name and I am curious if your line goes back to Joseph Elias Baron? He is reported to have died about 1793 or 1794 in either Greene or Washington county, TN. Any help on this line would be of help. 2. TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS...... Whereas, on an occasion immediately preceding the Nativity Festival, throughout a certain dwelling unit, quiet descended, in which would be heard no disturbance, not even the sound emitted by a diminutive rodent related to tom, and in form resembling, a rat: and Whereas, the offspring of the occupants had affixed their tubular, closely knit coverings for the nether limbs to the flue of the fireplace in the expectation that a personage known as St. Nicholas would arrive; and Whereas, said offspring had become somnolent and were entertaining re: saccharine-flavored fruit; and Whereas, the adult male of the family, et ux, attired in proper headgear, had also become quiescent in anticipation of nocturnal inertia; and Whereas, a distraction on the snowy acreage outside aroused athe owner to investigate; and Whereas, he perceived in a most unbelieving manner a vehicle propelled by eight domesticated quadrupeds of a species found in arctic regions; and Whereas, a most odd rotund gentleman was entreating the aforesaid animals bby their appellations , as follows: "Your immediate cooperation is requested. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen and collective action by you will be appreciated, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blizen.;" and Whereas, subsequent to the above, there occured a swift descent to the hearth by the aforementioned gentleman, where he proceeded to deposit gratuities in the aforementioned tubular coverings. Now, therefore, be ye advised: That upon completion of these acts, and upon his return to his original point of departure, he proclaimed a felicitation of the type prevalent and suitable to these occasions, i.e., "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night." I've exchanged with one of you before but I wasn't aware Ellen (Elen)'s middle initial was M. Could this be "Mary" who was the wife or dau. of Joseph MULLINs b 1790 VA. When he applied for his pension (in Bedford Co.) he named his wife as Mary. From the 1830 Jeff. Co. TN census we know she was much, much younger than he was. It's very likely a 2nd or 3rd wife however. I've been trying to "fit" Ellen as a dau. of Burl but it seemed so unlikely because he has a dau. Sarah Ellen "Ellen" who I've already traced out of TN. It would make sense that Ellen M. was either his sister, and named after their mother. Thanks, Debbie (Woolfpac@prodigy.net)
