    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nhB.2ACI/1261 Message Board Post: I am currently looking through early Hamblen County court minutes, where I have found a number of references to a Haynes Gap in the description of road orders. In looking at a present-day map of Hamblen County, I can't seem to find such a location. Does anyone happen to have any knowledge of where Haynes Gap was in the 1870's? I would presume that this was a location prior to the formation of Hamblen County and would have fallen in Jefferson County at such time. So my inquiry is not necessarily specific to the 1870's; rather, Hanynes Gap in general, at any point in time. To be a little more specific, the road orders usually state the following: "...road of the 2nd class from the Dandridge road to Haynes Gap..." I'm trying to figure out where this is located so I can have a better idea of where the particular farms were located, relating to the individuals assigned to work on the road. If anyone has any knowledge of Haynes Gap and might be able to tell me where it was/is located, I would appreciate it. Regards, Morgan H Courtney

    1. [TNJefferson] Methodist Religion in Jefferson County, TN
    2. L Bennett
    3. Jefferson County was one of the primary locations where the Holston Methodist Church Conference developed. This can be found in the five book series written by R.N. Price's "Holston Methodism" written between 1905 and 1918. Other ministers are mentioned in these books also. Also any book containing Bishop Asbury's notes will probably have information about the Methodist Church. The widow Arabella Cunningham, the widow of James Cunningham, and their six children moved to the French Broad Settlement by the late 1780's early 1790's. She was a strong believer in the Methodist faith. She was instrumental in the development of Pine Chapel near the Oak Grove Community. One of her sons was killed by Indians in an uprising in the early 1790's. He and several others are buried at the Pine Chapel Cemetery. One of her sons became a Methodist Minister. One of her daughters, Arabella/Irabella Cunningham, married the Rev. John Winton. Through various marriages, her five surviving children produced several descendants who continued to introduce the Methodist faith in American. And one who became a missionary in China. 1. [TNJefferson] William & George Elmore 1812-1902
    2. Pam Koppel
    3. I need the parents of George Elmore, born 1780-1790 re the 1830 & 1840 census of Blount Co. George assigned land, in 1837 Blount Co, TN, to William & Jesse Elmore. Apparently they were sons. The IGI names a George Elmore, b. 2 Oct 1780; married Hannah Cox, b. 19 Oct 1784. These dates are consistent with the census dates. Re the IGI Geo & Hannah had a son William, b. 1 Feb 1812, Jefferson Co, TN, died 27 May 1902. William Elmore married Nancy L Dixon in McMinn Co, TN in 1849. They were in Blount Co in 1850. They were in McMinn Co 1870-1900. They had 2 sons, William Alexander and George O. They had 4 daus, Josephine, Mary, Jennie, and Penelope. In the 1900 McMinn, TN census William gave his birth as Feb 1812. Please reply if you have any information or clues on this family. Thanks, Pam
