Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nhB.2ACI/1290.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the correction on the year of marriage. I went back to my original source "Marriages of Jefferson County, Tennessee 1792-1836" and you are right the year is 1794. I must have messed up the date at input to my data base. But for the day they list June 18th instead of 17th. The marriage bond could be dated the 17th. By the age of your ancestor, Rebecca Kerr, what would you estimate to be the approximate birth year of her brother Andrew? Thanks so much for your contribution.

    3. I also have a James Calvin Stinnett born 1868 who married Mary Pendergrass born 1882. They lived next to her parents, Walter and Harriett Pendergrass. It is my understanding that Mary had a twin sister named Martha. I have several census reports, obituaries of both and some info to share. Though my direct line ties in with James Calvin Stinnett I am still interested in the Pendergrass family and would enjoy corresponding and sharing info. ===== http://www.geocities.com/golmst3198/index.html __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? All this based on research by Louise Kerr Colboch, which I received second-hand and have not verified. I'm descended from Andrew's sister Rebecca Kerr who married Samuel Gass. Bill Hurst

    3. Pat, You might try newspaper abstracts, funeral homes and by all means check for church records. I looked in my phone book (goes as far as Jefferson City which is the next town) and it does not contain New Market. (If you blink, your through New Market) The Knoxville phone book was no help either. Funeral homes know where the cemeteries are and the only one I found listed for New Market: Fielden Funeral Home 910 Churchview St. New Market 865.475.3468 They might be able to tell you how things were done in the area at the time. Nashville did keep records, I have my ggrandmother’s and she died 1914. Look for mortality records for Jefferson Co., TN. If you can’t locate any online, check with the LDS they have a wealth of documents on microfilm & etc. that you can research at a Temple near you or check with your library and see if they can obtain them through interlibrary loan. The railroad is the Norfork which runs through there, they possible may have some records. Good hunting. Patti >Hello. 3. Hello. I am researching African American ancestors who lived in New Market, Jefferson County TN. My grandfather, Boyce Richardson, worked for the railroad which ran through New Market and was also a brickmason. He and my grandmother, Emma Winston Richardson, had a large family. He died in 1923, but the state has no death certificate, although I understand that Nashville had started keeping these records by that time. I have been unable to locate any records which would identify his father. My mother and her siblings did not know his name (all but one are now deceased). Grandmother died when I was 3 years old. Boyce was born near Spartanburg SC. where the Richardson surname is quite common. My mother told me that the casket for his funeral was provided by the local hardware merchant. Does anyone know of any local sources that might be available about his death or burial practices there? He was probably buried in the AME Church cemetery in New Market as he was a member. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated. Pat Perry

    2. Lainee Jones
    3. I have a William Denton born around 1800 in Tennessee and his wife Sarah (surname unknown) born about 1806 in South Carolina. They moved to Missouri in the 1850's. I have all of their children as being born in Tennessee. I have the childrens names as Johnathan, Samuel, Rachel, William and Jacob. In my searching on these two, I came across a William Denton born Tennessee between 1792 and 1800 and wife Sarah Hance born South Carolina between 1805 and 1809. These two married about 1820-1823. I haven't been able to find a list of children for this couple and would like to so I can see if this indeed is the same William and Sarah. Does anyone out there have access to earlier birth records, 1825-1845, to find out what the names of children for William Denton and Sarah Hance are? Thanks in advance for any and all help, Lainee
