1. [TNJefferson] Fowkes/Goforth
2. Lynne Folks Steinfeld
3. Hi- My name is Lynne Folks Steinfeld and I am new to the list. I am researching my family genealogy. I believe that they were in Stewart County for many years, prior to 1830. I am looking for Richard Fowkes and his parents(I think his name was George Fowkes and hers Sarah Bartlett) and the family of Charles A. Goforth. The spelling of Fowkes changed to Folks. By 1835 he was in Ohio and by 1850 his sons, and Goforth's widow and daughters were all in Sonoma County, California. I believe that Sherwood Folks could fit into the family, but I have yet to find a connection. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much. Lynne Folks Steinfeld

1. [TNJefferson] Stinnett/Bolden/Yearout
2. Hi Looking for any information on William Stinnett and Yearout wife, parents of Bob Stinnett b. 1890 who married Ethel or Myrtle Bolden b. 1900. The marraige certificate of Bob and Ethel Bolden Stinnett was located in Sevier County. Family lore says that both of them were born and raised in Sevier, but the gravesite of Ethel is located in jefferson County in Mccampbell Church cemetery. I am having a hard time getting anywhere on my maternal line..do have two more generations on Ethel Bolden, but not a thing on Robert stinnett. My grandmother was known in the family as Ethel but her stone states her as Myrtle Ethel.

List:-),, I am John Linkes from Kentucky. I am "New" to this list & haven't done much posting,,, but beginning to learn its very valuable to ones doing research in a certain area. I would like to know if there is anyone doing research on the WOLLARD/WOOLARD family of East Tennessee, mainly Jefferson & Grainger Co.?? This line ties into my LINKES/LINKOUS line thru my g.g.grandfather (Gibson M. Lincus/Linkes) 1/2 sister Mary "Mollie" Linkus/Linkous. I have just recently been in contact with my 4th cousin, Lynn Rockcastle, who descends from Mary "Mollie" Linkus/Linkous and who was able to give me what "little" info. I have on the WOLLARD line. Here is a link to my home page Linkes/Linkous Family History Info. where you can get more details of how it all ties together,, but I will also give a little outline here: John Barnett Linkous (b.1822) 1st married Mary Ann HOUSEWRIGHT (b.1821)on Nov.16,1846 in Hawkins Co. TN and settled in Rutledge, Grainger Co. TN. They had one child: Gibson M.(b.1851). Mary Ann died soon after Gibson was born,,, & Gibson ran away from home at abt. the age of 11yrs old to Rogersville, where his Housewright cousin lived. John Barnett LINKOUS remarried 2nd (maybe his 3rd) to Julia L.STALLARD on Sept.1, 1873 in Hawkins Co.TN and they resettled in Blaine Crossroads, Grainger Co.TN and had Mary "Mollie" and maybe 5 other unknown children. Mary "Mollie" Linkus/Linkous married Thomas Daniel WOLLARD(b.abt.1860-66 his parents are Nicholas Wollard & Martha Jane "surname unknown") about 1900 and later settled in Jefferson Co. TN. They had the following children: William "Willie", Milton, Lillie Mae, & Laura Mae. If there is anyone on the list that may have a connection, I would be very grateful to hear from you:-)) Thanks for your time,, John Linkes. researching: Linkes/Linkous, Housewright, Stallard, Wollard/Woolard ( Forgive me if this is a repeat for anyone on the Grainger Co. list) --part1_d30d1751.24eb8977_boundary--

1. Woods, Lynch and Fox Families TN circa 1840-70
2. Brett Woods
3. I was wondering if someone could offer some insight into the following families, and perhaps help me straighten out some of the familial relationships. And please indulge me, as this seems rather confusing. 1. In Jefferson County TN, on 11 Oct 1859, Elizabeth Ann Fox married an Elihu Lynch. 2. In Williamson County TN, on 2 Feb 1843, Nancy Fox married a Joseph Woods. 3. On the 1880 Greene County TN census my ggrandfather James H. Woods (b SC ABT 1847) is shown with a wife Elizabeth Fox (b TN ABT 1840). Also living in the household (and indicated to be a sister-in-law) was a Mary Fox (b. TN ABT 1846). Elizabeth and Mary are the daughters of Isaac Fox (b TN ABT 1796) and Rachael Craddick. Isaac's father was Andrew Fox (b. Culpepper VA ABT 1742). Keep in mind that the names Elizabeth and Nancy seem to run rampant throughout the Fox family. 4. Now, the final stroke. James H. Woods' oldest sister was named "Lynch" Woods, (b Spartanburg SC abt 1846). Both James' and Lynch's father was a Henry J. Woods (b ABT 1826 in NC). Their mother (last name unknown) was known both as Mary H and Polly on later censuses. Perhaps she was a Lynch? I haven't a clue. In any event, if anyone knows anything about this group, please let me know. Since Henry is my gggrandfather, I really would appreciate any information that may help me identify his parentage. Thanks for any assistance. Brett F. Woods Santa Fe, New Mexico
