    2. Hazel & Duayne Holland
    3. Hi Bridgett, Thanks for being our List Admin . I live in South Dakota and have been trying to trace my ggrandfather's parents . My ggrandfather's name was Andrew Jackson Crow b. January 5, 1837., Jefferson County, TN. We know he had a brother William and a brother John. There were other siblings but names not sure of. We are having problems finding names of their parents. The story passed down through the years is that Andrews mother died shortly after his birth . I do know that his one brother was married in Grainger Co. I have searched the census and the only names I found for 1840 on Crow (it only listed head of household) was Russel and James. Perhaps they had moved by 1840. I had someone that was researching the surname Chaney told me a Rosanna Chaney married a James Crow in Jefferson County but I cant find anything to be sure which Crow could be my gggrandparents. If you would like I will give you the name of the person researching the Chaney since you are researching that surname also. my email is [email protected] Thanks Hazel Holland-----Original Message----- From: Bridgett Smith <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, September 19, 1999 4:41 PM Subject: [TNJefferson] New List Admin Hi folks, My name is Bridgett Smith and I am your new List Admin for TNJeffer- L. My Jefferson County names are: Chaney, Moree, Edwards, Woods, Frank and Witt -- probably a few others thrown in <G>. Most of these ancestors settled in the Piedmont area of the County. 3. Two years ago I was in Jefferson County doing family research and I found the graves of both sets of my grandmother's grandparents. In the Dumplin Valley Cemetary are John Chaney MOORE and Amanda Melseany (MILLER) MOORE. In the Seahorn Chapel Cemetary are Samuel B HAMMER and Elizabeth (RANGE) HAMMER. I have information on all of these lines but would like to hear from others that are researching these lines as well. I would especially like more information regarding Amanda (MILLER) MOORE's parents Robert MILLER and Sarah "Sally" (WALKER) MILLER I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Hazel, I probably know your Chaney researcher, think I have been contacted by every Chaney researcher (that has roots in Jefferson or surrounding counties) <VBG>. However, Crow is not a name that I can remember coming across in my meager researching. I started researching in 1995 and 2 years later became the State Coordinator for TNGenWeb, had to put my research aside ::sigh::. I have recently stepped down from that position so am starting back into researching again. But it is almost like starting from scratch I think. LOL You can send me the name and contact information tho, if you don't mind. 2. Searching for burial site of Edward RIGGS [1720--1820] who died in Jefferson Co, TN. Edward was a wealthy landholder in East Tennessee from NC Land Warrants for Edwards Rev War Service as a Captain in Surry Co, NC Militia. Edward had three land WARRANTS in 1787 in then Green Co, TN as follows: #428 for 1000 acres on South side of Holston River adjoining Gidion MORRIS, Joseph GILBREATH, Swelten's Creek. #502 for 445 acres between French Broad and Holdston Rivers. #660 for 200 acres on South side of Holston River on Dry Fork. All my information points to the following children of Edward RIGGS and Jane BUCKLEY: Reuben; Samuel; Sarah; Clisbe, Jesse and Elizabeth. Any help on this will be appreciated. If Edward RIGGS burial site could be located, it would be nice to get a Veterans Administration Marker to place on his grave to commemorate his Rev War Service. Bobby G. Carwile

    1. [TNJefferson] Hill, Riley H. Mack
    2. Hello, I am posting my Hill line to Jefferson Co. in hopes that someone here might have some information on a Hill family that might have moved into Cocke Co. My Riley stated on his Pension Application that he was born in Cocke Co. Tn. May 24, 1843 and that he enlisted May 1862 in the 62nd Inf. Co. I CSA (which was mustered in Cocke Co.) I have looked at the 1850 Census record for Cocke Co. and Riley isn't there in the Hill families listed. I know that several Hill families from Jefferson Co. moved to McNairy Co. Tn. around 1828, where my Riley H. Mack Hill ended up. Was he related? Is that the reason he moved to McNairy? Following is an outline of my Hill family: Ivalon Hill Fox Descendants of Riley H. 1. [TNJefferson] My Bullards
    2. Steve Harned
    3. Hi I am seeking any information on the following people. William Bullard born about 1799 in Robeson Co., North Carolina. He married Mary or Martha (possibly Thompson). They moved to Cobb Co., Georgia and then my great grandfather Marion and one or more of his siblings moved to Oneonta, Blount Co., Alabama. Marion married Rebecca Bynum, daughter of Asa Bynum, son of Asa Bynum and Rebecca Murphree, and Elizabeth Bynum, daughter of John Bynum and Betsy Clowdus. Their son Parker Dometis Bullard, born 10-1-1878, married Laura Omma Webb, born 9-2-1879. Laura was the daughter of James Alexander Webb, son of William Webb and Martha A. Clifton, he was born in Jefferson Co., Tennessee on 11-2-1853 and Sarah Agnes Clifton, born about 1852 in Alabama. Sarah was the daughter of Aaron Clifton and an unnamed Indian Woman. Sorry if this message is confusing. I would appreciate any information on these ancestors. It is possible that William Bullard if the son of James Bullard and Sarah Pittman, but I have no proof. Also question for the Bullard mailing list. Is there any way I could get the picture being discussed? Jenny Lee Tolbert
