    2. Hi Bridgett Smith & list member's, Welcome Bridgett as new list administrator. I am a little slow at responding to E-mail but, I did save the note :-) I have been on the list about 3 months now. I am researching these surname's connected with my line: LINKOUS/LINCOS/LINCAS/LINKUS, HOUSEWRIGHT, WOOLARD/WOLLARD, STALLARD. These line's are connected in Hawkins, Grainger, & Jefferson Co. I have very little on the STALLARD & WOLLARD/WOOLARD surname's, as I just learned this year of there connection to my family. Does anyone on the list have any connections to them? If anyone has anything, I would be most GRATEFUL no matter how small the info. might be. Thanks all, John Linkes Prestonsburg, Kentucky

    1. [TNJefferson] Re: George Rogers and Tabitha Brimer
    2. Does anyone know whatever happened to George Rogers and his wife Tabitha Brimer?? Tabitha was born to William and Elizabeth Brimer about 1793. She married George Rogers about 1834 most likely in Jefferson County or Sevier County, but it could have been someplace else. Does anyone know if this couple had children, or where George or Tabitha are buried? Any information would be appreciated. .....Marjorie [email protected]

    2. Does anyone in Hawkins County have any information on Samuel RIGGS family; his wife, children, death date, burial place, etc. Any information will be appreciated. Samuel RIGGS was a Revolutionary War Soldier. His (FIRST) application for Pension is shown below in the highlighted HTML. He applied as an enlisted man in 1834 while under the false impression that only Regular Officers could apply for a pension and Militia officers were ineligible. He filled for an upgrade in his pension to that of a Lieutenant at age 85 in 1845 in Hawkins Co, TN. Bobby G. 1. [TNJefferson] "Stories in Stone"
    2. Bridgett Edwards
    3. The below message was found on another mailing list: ****************** >From the local newspaper, the Standard Banner: The third volume of "Stories in Stone" is ready for publication. The committee, consisting of members of the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, have audited the current cemeteries lying in the northwest section of the county. "Stories in Stone" volumes I and II were transcribed by Cherel Henderson and David Templin in 1986 and 1988. This volume completes all known cemeteries in Jefferson County, which includes cemeteries in Jefferson City [formerly Mossy Creek], New Market [formerly Lost Creek], Talbott, and Strawberry Plains. With the earlier work of Cherel Henderson, the committee took her 1988 data and brought it up to date for the current cemeteries but the older ones which have no new burials were not re-audited at this time. The committee began work in March of this year and most of the auditing was completed by the end of August. Total number of cemeteries listed in this volume are seventy-three with more than three-hundred pages. Tennessee Valley Authority Relocations for those covered by Cherokee Lake and the Mortality Schedules for the county in the years 1850, 1860 and 1880 are included. A list was provided by Cherel Henderson, which was much help to the committee and contained most of them except Jefferson Memorial Gardens and a fwe small cemeteries discovered in our search. We took the list, read each stone, corrected for errors and added those buried in the past ten years. Some stones which were difficult to read were brushed with baking flour and rubbed into the marker to bring out all possible dates and names. Some required dropping to our knees to enable us to read the old history listed on each marker. Early settlers are listed in this book such as Adam Peck first settler in Mossy Creek (Jefferson City), Adam Meek, and Col. John Roper all Revolutionary War Soldiers, and William Rogers, President of Mossy Creek Missionary Baptist Seminary. The book will be available to the public before Christmas and will sell for $20, pre-publication price, plus $3 postage and handling until December 1. It may be purchased from the Jefferson County Genealogical Society, POB 267 Jefferson City, TN 37760.

    1. [TNJefferson] Joseph M. Anderson
    2. Jessie Blalock
    3. Hello. I am researching Joseph M. Anderson who was born about 1840 in Jefferson Co., TN, and joined the Union Army, serving in Co C of the 4th TN Cavalry (USA). In attempting to locate him in the 1850 and 1860 censuses I am running into the problem of his having a common surname, so if any of you could point me in the right direction, or if you have any information about this individual, I would be grateful. 1. [TNJefferson] James Campbell & Hannah Inman Family
    2. Doug and Chris Showalter
    3. Greetings, One of my lines goes back to EZEKIEL CAMPBELL [b: abt 1794, TN] and his wife, JANE MODRELL who were married in Pulaski Co., TN in 1816. Jane was a daughter of GEORGE MODRELL and a granddaughter of his father, ROBERT MOTHERAL. Thus far my research suggests that Ezekiel was likely a son of JAMES CAMPBELL and his wife HANNAH INMAN, daughter of SHADRACH INMAN and MARY MCPHEETERS of Jefferson Co., TN. After their marriage, Ezekiel and Jane went back and forth between KY and TN, then they went to Owen Co., IN with other Modrell family members. Then they lived in McDonough Co., IL where some other descendants of James and Hannah Campbell went. Ezekiel, Jane, and family finally settled in Andrew Co., MO about 1840/41 and eventually died there. I appreciate any help on these lines. Thanks. And, if anyone cares to check them out, I have ongoing "research pages" on the web for both my Campbell line and my Modrell line. The URL is listed below. Best wishes, Doug Showalter Rev.
