THURSDAY * Benton County Genealogical Society meeting in the lower level of the Library Thursday nite at: 6:30 P.M All interested in the meeting are invited. *Arrive at the meeting room at Paris Landing State Park Lodge, June 24th Thursday 5-7:00 PM... to have your surnames and email addy put on your Tee shirts. To register and to receive your county packets. FRIDAY *Friday morning 7:30 am a brief morning meeting so folks can go to the courthouses (remember it is Friday) * Friday morning... those that don't want to hit the streets early.. will meet for breakfast at about 8:00 am... at the Lodge.. and the Chef has arranged for Cher to supervise the making of her chocolate gravy.. It will be served for Danville Crossing with the buffet breakfast * Benton County Gen Society will have tables of information set up at the Library Lower Level , in Camden on Friday and Saturday from 10-2:00pm * Friday (time not given) George Jackson, the Dickson County Historian will be at the Dickson County Library. * Meeting room open at 3:00 Pm. *Friday evening regroup @ 4:30 PM ** Meeting will open and "Cacky Cline will share some research tips followed by a group participation **AUCTION...THE AUCTION WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW FRIDAY AT 3:00PM-5:15 There will be a Special secret item to bid on too.. a real just for fun!!! There will be a drawing for a special gift... 5:30 go to Supper at a previously agreed place (there are two catfish restaurants in the area that are supposed to be excellent) Or we can eat off the buffet at the lodge. They have a special seafood menue. SATURDAY *Saturday 7:30 am.. Another brief meeting so folks can get to the Libraries. There will be some that will want to head to the cemeteries, or what ever.... * Saturday morning... those that don't want to hit the streets early.. will meet for breakfast at about 8:00 am... at the Lodge.. and the Chef has arranged for Cher to supervise the making of her chocolate gravy.. (The Supper must be paid in advance. $10.00/per person) We will have Genealogical Society members, Tables set up in our lodge meeting room with various books available on the region. Drawings,The Winner of Solid as a Rock contest and Pale Rock Hider Awards will be announced at this meeting. 5:30 Supper... after stuffing ourselves we will return to the meeting room for more book buying, info swapping, and friendship making.. **After supper we will look at and vote by a show of hands for the most interesting/oldest/oddest ect thing brought for show and tell SUNDAY * Sunday meet at breakfast? and disband until next year. REMEMBER to bring your TEE shirts so we can put your surnames on the back and your email on top and your name on the front... I will have the pens to write with.... I will try and have times and dates of Libraries being open it the county packets We will have a silent auction or hat passing to support this Homecoming... This is casual.. ..slacks, jeans, bermuda shorts (as opposed to the short shorts) sandles, canvas... what ever shoes you find comfortable.. since we are eating out of doors... and at the end of JUNE...(I hope in the shade or cool side of the bldg...)c:) so dress in clothing that breathes and is absorbant.. The humidity can be opressive... may need a snorkle!! <lol> BRING: Remember.. TO BRING: Blank floppies your FTM files on some floppies hard copies of your data (paper versions of your family sheets etc..) dimes.. for copies old photos to share.. old photos to post that you dont know... or sorta know... (these will be put on a bulletin board) An artifact.. something that belonged to an ancestor.. (who will bring the most unique? Oldest? oddity?) Tee shirt Contribution for the auction Your usual cemetery paraphernalia ( I include a umbrella in my junk) the sun is always in the wrong place.. Bug spray Visor or hat camera rubbing kit pencils, paper You may want to bring some text that you think will be most helpful.. for folks to do their own lookups.. in the meeting room. make sure your name is in each book you bring...I like to put my name in several places in a book.. May want to bring some little return address labels.. ... you know the ones we get free from VFW or whoever in the mail with our name and addy on them.. may be handy for swapping names and making your bids for the auction... and for any drawing.
