    3. Hello, My name is Jean Hancock and I am looking for any leads to MITCHELL and ANGELICA JACKSON who were probably married in either Montgomery Co. or Dickson Co., TN. It is thought that they moved to Mississippi after their marriage which was sometime after 1826 and prior to 1846. I have corresponded with one Jackson researcher who thinks Mitchell may have gone to TX sometime after 1846. ROOK, Daniel (abt. 1790-1824) and Angelica WHITEHEAD/(?)ROOK JACKSON (md. MITCHELL JACKSON after 1826) I know Angelica was md. to Mitchell Jackson, but I have not been able to prove her maiden name---conclusively---or that the Angelica who married Mitchell Jackson was the same Angelica who was married to Daniel Rook. Angelica Whitehead's father was BENJAMIN WHITEHEAD if she was Angelica Whithead. I have not been able to find any record or mention of an Angelica Trotter which leads me to suspect that Angelica's maiden name was Whitehead. Mitchell was married to JANE TROTTER prior to his marriage to Angelica. Jane Trotter was the widow of George Trotter. Mitchell's step-son, James R. Trotter, married Mitchell's step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rook (she was the daughter of Daniel and Angelica Whitehead Rook). The following information was sent to me by two other Jackson researchers but I have no idea, for sure, if this is the Mitchell Jackson I am searching for. I want to find out more about him as his wife, Angelica, may have been my 4xggmtr. I also want to know what happened to Mitchell and Angelica's children: Mary Jane (married to Robert N. Hunt), Burrell Jackson, Benjamin F. Jackson and Willis Jackson. I appreciate any leads you might can send my way. I have been chasing these two for quite some time now and they are definitely one of my more prominent brick walls. Jean Hancock in TX Found the following in Tennessee Tidbits, V. 1: pg. 192 - JACKSON, Mitchel - Married before June 1846 to Angelica Whitehead, daughter of Benjamin Whitehead, deceased. Angelica was also deceased before above date, leaving children, Mary Jane, Burrell, Benjamin F. and Willis Jackson. (Dic TN, Cir Ct Min, B/42) pg. 187 - HUNT, Robert N. - Married before June term 1846 to Mary Jane Jackson, daughter of Mitchel and Angelica Whitehead Jackson. Angelica was the daughter of Benjamin Whitehead, deceased. (Dic TN, Cir Ct Min, B/42) pg. 401 - WHITEHEAD, Benjamin - Died before June 1846 as shown in the petition of R. N. Hunt and others. It was stated that Benjamin Whitehead died in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and left a will, by which he loaned to his daughter, Angelica Jackson, a negro woman during her life and at her death to the children of Angelica Jackson. Angelica is dead leaving her husband, Mitchel Jackson, and children, Mary Jane now married to Robert N. Hunt, Burrell Jackson, Benjamin F. Jackson and Willis Jackson. The last three are minors. (Dic TN, Cir Ct Min, B/42) +++++++++++++++++ >From a Jackson researcher's notes: Mitchell is the son of Willis (born 1760-1765 Virginia; died 16 Aug 1831 Dickson Co. TN) and Mary Elizabeth (UNK) Jackson (born ca. 1783 Virginia; died 30 Jan 1843 Dickson Co. TN). Mitchell is a brother to the Willis Jackson ( born 18 Jan 1815) who is buried in the Jackson Family cemetery in the cedar thicket on Jones Creek. It is very possible the parents, Willis and Mary Elizabeth, are buried there, but if so, their graves are unmarked, or are buried. In 1974, we had a terrible ice storm here, and this little cemetery was wrecked. All of those huge old cedars broke and in falling, destroyed many of the grave markers. NOTHING has been done to restore it, and cattle have even run through it at times. Willis Sr. died in 1831, so it's very possible he's buried there. All of the Jacksons in Dickson County are related. Willis Sr. and his brother, Guillem, were the sons of Peter Jackson. I have nothing but Peter's name. Guillem and Willis both settled in Dickson Co. TN and their descendants are still here and plentiful.
