    1. Visit to TN/NC in October
    2. Joe D. Deaver
    3. In late October, I hope to make a research trip to Humphreys and Polk Counties on my way from TX to NC. My Deaver ancestors were in Humphreys County from around the late 1850s through the Civil War and probably into the late 1870s. I may only get to spend a day or two in TN. I would really appreciate some recommendations regarding the best places to research in Humphreys County. My great great grandfather, Richard Albert Deaver (1828-1901), was born in NC and married Mary Elizabeth Hawkins there around 1851. They later moved to Humphreys County, TN and Richard fought in the Confederacy along with other Deaver kin while living there. His wife Mary died there during the Civil War in 1863. I still have not located where she is buried. The family was on the 1860 census in Humphreys County under the misspelled name "Deevers". My great grandfather, Joseph Jasper Deaver, was born to Richard and Mary in Waverly in December 1859 and showed up in the family under that 1860 census as "infant, 9 months". Both Richard and Joseph came to Texas in the late 1870s. I believe Richard remarried before this move, possibly in TN to Elizabeth Triplett. I certainly look forward to visiting TN for the first time and plan to stop off at the Smokey Mountain National Park along the way to admire the scenery. :) Joe D.
