    3. NICHOLAS Evidently, the NICHOLAS family "passed through" Humphreys County. Ebemelech (I won't enumerate all the different ways his name was spelled <g>) NICHOLAS was on the census in 1820 and his son Jordan NICHOLAS was on the census in 1830. They came to Humphreys County from Northampton County, North Carolina, where Ebemelech appears on the 1790 and 1800 censuses -- I have no clue where Ebemelech NICHOLAS was in 1810 except that he married Peggy EAKINS in Davidson County, Tennessee, in 1816. His first wife was Nelly WALL. Jordan moved on to Hickman County, Kentucky, where he's on the census in 1840. I did find some deeds on the Humphreys County deed microfilms for Jordan NICHOLAS but none for Ebemelech. I'd like to find where Ebemelech is buried. I'm assuming he died somewhere between 1820 and 1830. There were other NICHOL and NICHOLS families living in Hickman County in the early 1800s, whose roots were reported to be in Carroll County, Tennessee. These were Alva, David, and John NICHOL or NICHOLS. I'd like to find out whether they were also related Ebemelech and Jordan NICHOLAS. Michele Chavez confused NICHOLAS researcher michelec@qnet.com
