Does anyone have any information on a Stewart family reunion? TIA glenn stewart
I am new to your list and a researcher on the TNDICKSO rootsweb list suggested that I post my request to you. I am seeking information about the family of my great, great, great grandmother, Ann RAGAN (probably Nancy Ann). She was the daughter of Nathan RAGAN (b. Aug 20, 1788) and Elizabeth (Unknown last name). She married William BARNHILL (1801 - 1844) on Aug 24, 1821 in Hickman County, TN. For this reason we have focused our research in Hickman County. Nathan RAGAN is listed in the Chancery Court of Dickson County, TN on October 20, 1846 which involved a will. The children of William BARNHILL and Nancy Ann RAGAN ended up in Hardin County, TN. We have been unable to locate a burial place of William and Nancy Ann but do know that the orphan children of William BARNHILL were mentioned in 1844 in the minutes of the Hardin County Court Clerk. I think that they settled around the Tumbling Creek area which was in Hickman County at the time but is presently Humphreys County. I would like very much to contact any RAGAN or BARNHILL researchers in the Humphrey County area. I look forward to hearing from some of you and trading information. Thanks! Hi Folks, This was posted on another list and I thought I would pass it along. Jean Hancock POST-EMs. Now you can attach a message to any of the more than 61 million records in the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) at RootsWeb by using a "post-em," developed by RootsWeb's own Randy Winch. Some suggested uses: attach notes to the records of your relatives, providing researchers with a direct link to you; add background information on an individual in the database, such as pointers to other records relating to that individual; or add a correction to an incorrect record. Check the records of individuals of interest to you often. Someone recently might have left a note there for you. To add a note to a record, do a search and click on "Post-em" at the end of a record at: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi.
Now, I know your folks were in TN, but just in case they moved on to TX: http://freeweb.pdq.net/mike_in_katy/tolo_maps.htm I normally do not send out sites which has merchandise for sale. However, I think that there are several folks who would like to see this site by Mike Taylor. Just check out the two maps he has given as examples and then realize that his price is very low. He is selling the maps on an individual disk so it is something which could be customized to your needs. And, the usual disclaimer: I do not know Mike, nor do I work for him. Jean Hancock
Looking for info on Martha Adams, b. 11-16-1852, daughter of Nelson Adams and Martha Mathis, m. W.H. (Tip) Tummins. Possibly buried on Blue Creek. Any dates or other info will be greatly appreciated. Faye Keele
Looking for any info/connections to my sister-in-laws great grandfather, Lum JONES, from the Tumbling Creek area of Humphrys. He is the father of at least James Garland Clint JONES, who was born October 20, 1901, supposedly also in the Tumbling Creek area. James's mother was Dora BEECHAM. It is unknown if Lum and Dora were married. would like to find out any more info regarding siblings of James or anything about Dora. Lum was allegedly very cruel, and James ran away from home at the age of 8. Married the former Lena Pearl RAINES in Detroit, MI in 1924, then went back and forth between Michigan and Tennessee. Please e-mail me if any of this sounds familiar. thanks Sally Rowe Livonia, MI
I have found Hester Young in Humphreys County in the 1850 and 1860 TN censuses, but have no other info on her. Is there anyone on the list who might be able to assist in finding more details? She is on page 154 of the 1850 census index, with no township, and on page 113 of 1860 census index, in district 3. I am researching from far off, and appreciate any suggestions or info shared. Thank you. MDouglas, dasha@unet.com.mk Macedonia

Jan, Here is the listing of those buried in the Hooper Cem on Turkey Creek. The Cem is greatly overgrown. It can't be seen from the road. If on foot, you still have to know it's back there to find it. I have been to the Cem. 5 times since 1995. It is in great disrepair - weeds & sapplings growing everywhere, one or two large trees down, fence broken down, no sign. Hope you or someone else recognizes some of these folks. I'm looking for anyone that might be interested in helping re-claim the cem. Just contact me at my addy above. Hello Dave, Cacky, Everyone, I have recently returned from a trip and found much discussion on the list about cemetery preservation. I applaud all of you. We need to save our cemeteries. I heard a story last year of a Thompson Cem. in Perry Co. that was pushed over with bulldozers because the land owner wanted to drill a well. Personally, I am interested in preserving the Hooper Cem. on Turkey Creek in Humphreys Co. It is so over grown that it can easily be missed even by those on foot. There are Hoopers, Thompsons, Horners, Garlands, others buried there. I for one would be willing to contribute time, funds, etc. Is there anyone else on the list with connections to this cemetery? Have a great day! Linda H.

I was asked this question and couldnt help her. Can you? Please correspond with Martha at majastone@uky.compuscwix.net Hope you can help her...nice lady! Thanks, Cher <snip> Could you tell me how to access the list of people buried in the various cemeteries in Humphrey County Tenn - interested in James cemetery and Warren cemetery. I e-mailed a request to the person listed in the site for the cemetery records and the mail came back to me, so I don't know any other person to ask.
Really helpful information.. you might want to save this! About draft registration and the info on it.. Hello Everyone! Just a note to let you know I have added some new obituaries -- courtesy of Jessie! I have a few more to add so please keep checking. I should get them up this weekend. The photo page has a new format, in case you haven't looked recently. It loads better now and you can view only the photos you want to view without waiting for all of them to load. Thanks to those of you for letting me know the 1840 census part two was not working! It is fixed now....if you have any more problems, please do not hesitate to contact me. Jessie, if you are reading this, please email me as I sent you a letter which has come back as a bad address. I have a question on some of the obituaries you sent me. Is anyone on our list actually in Humphreys County? I need a "big" favor if anyone is there. I would donate lunch and gas money for the inconvenience... There is a McKeel cemetery in the Trinity area and my great aunt is buried there. I paid to have her death date added to her stone but no one can tell me if the work was ever completed. I would love it if someone could confirm that for me...I thought $85 was a little high for two numbers that would be put "the next time the fellow comes around"... California (where I am) is just a little too far for checking my self. Good luck to all on your searching! Alisa
I am new to this list and am currently researching my Daniels ancestors from this county. I'm specifically looking for info regarding the following: John Daniels m. Martha Davis (before 1859) Their son, Charlie Franklin (I don't know of any other children) m. Sarah Burb and had the following children: Charlie Porter, John Dalton, Cam Alton, Lillie, Martha Jane, Lousinda, Ever D., & Bernice. Cam married Ludie Mae Cathey in 1919 and had 9 children, one of whom is my father, Raymond Elton. I have a lot of info from Cam forward, but have been unable to find anything about his parents and grandparents. Any help would be appreciated.
