I am repeating the information for the Danville crossing Homecoming, so please overlook or delete this, if you have already signed up and sent in your money. We have about 6 more weeks to get it all ready, notify the Lodge how many of us are coming and how many there will be for the fishfry on Saturday night. Linda is making up packets for each person doing research in each particular county, so we need a list of your surnames and what Counties you are looking for them in, too. So, if you haven't already, please print this out , fill it in, add a check for $10 for the 3 day event and $13.50 includes tax and tip) for the supper and mail it to Danville Crossing Homecoming 2000 P O Box 47047 Jacksonville Florida 32247-7047 Name_______________________________________________________________ screenname__________________________________________________________ Address_____________________________________________________________ city____________________________state__________________zip______________ Surnames_____________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ DC area counties_____________________________________________________________ There will be _______of us doing research attending DCH2000 and _______guests There will be _____________of us attending the dinner Saturday night ( over age 3) Thanks! Inside this box is photo's of family and friends of the Murrell and Choate families of Humphreys and Dickson Counties. I have since put these pictures into photo albums and have scanned many of them onto computer disk in efforts to preserve these images. I have only been doing research for a short time and need some help with information about these families. Here are some of the names of the folks in the pictures that I would like to find out more about...... Dan Choate b. around 1875-1880???? Lizzie Choate (Dan's twin sister) Van Choate (Brother of Dan & Lizzie) Lillie May (Murrell) Choate b. 1879?? (wife of Dan Choate) John Murrell (brother of Lillie) Jim Murrell (father of Lillie & John) Will T. Murrell (relationship unknown) Maude (???) Murrell (wife of Will T.) This is just a few of the many names that I am researching. I would be very greatful for any help you may have to offer me and would be more than happy to share these pictures with anyone interested. With Much Gratitude, Mack --------------BD86047FD1441E86E28E03D4--
Hi Everyone! I just have to share with you something I got in the mail today! The Humphreys County Heritage Volume I (1979) is being reprinted! I've had my name on that list for years--if it ever came available again. Now I live in Texas and the books are available in Waverly, Tennessee so don't contact me for a book. I'm just excited and wanted to pass the info along to EVERYONE! I just spoke with Mrs. Whitfield and they are trying to get up orders for at least 200 copies. Let me tell you they keep their copies at the library in Waverly under lock and key! (No where in the flyer does it mention that it is indexed and the original one was not) However there was a Surname Index put out for both volumes some years ago. This is what the flyer says: This 81/2 x 11 inch, hardbound, coffee-table volume contains 512 pages; bound in a beautiful red leatherette cover with gold embossing on the front cover. $65.00 includes taxes and shipping. In 1979 the Humphreys County Historical Society published a unique collection of historical sketches and family histories written by the people of Humphreys County. The book quickly sold-out and copies have been unavailable for nearly 20 years. Due to overwhelming demand, the Society has decided to release a second printing of this historic volume! Copies won't be available for long, so you are encouraged to reserve your books in advance. About the book: a.. Contains a detailed history of the county from its inception in 1809, including community histories of Bakerville, Blue Creek (Beech Grove), Buffalo, Denver, Gorman, Hurricane Creek, Hurricane Mills, Hustburg, Johnsonville, McEwen, New Johnsonville, Plant, Poplar Grove, Pumpkin Creek (Glenwood), Reynoldsburgh, Stewart Branch, Wallace Community, and Waverly; b.. Dozens of Church histories c.. Nearly 800 family histories, dating back to our founding fathers d.. This is a must for all Humphreys County residents and family members, and anyone who can trace their roots back to Middle Tennessee. Order from: The Humphreys County Historical Society 107 Carroll Avenue Waverly, TN 37185

Hi, Would someone with access to a Humphreys County cemetery book or death records please check for B.D. or Martha Tucker. They are in the 1860 Humphreys County census in their sixties. Thanks for your time and effort, Rick

Well, folks, we are down to two months and a few days from having our Homecoming at Paris Landing. Plans are moving along nicely. I have quite a few of you all signed up and paid for, and the list of surnames and counties you are researching in have been sent sent to Linda who is making the county packages and surname list. I am hoping that my plans to attend the Danville Crossing meeting in June come true. But there is something I hope more. I am getting older and at age 65 am not sure how much longer I have to go tromping through cemeteries and court house basements. I hope 30 years <G> but doubt that. What I want is help. My 3rd great Grandpa was Able Jackson who lived his adult life in Humphreys County. Before I die I want to walk where he walked and if possible see an area where he may be buried. In the 1850 census he was in household #178 next to his son John Jackson who was in household #173. That in itself has me confused since I thought John was in Benton County? In 1850 Able was still living with his first wife and my 3rd Great Grandma Clarissa Tomlinson Jackson. She died in 1856 and old Able must have already had another lady picked out because he didn't waste any time getting married to Parthena Brown Ridings and then he only lived another year <G> I guess it was Parthena Brown Ridings Jackson who saw to Abel's burial? Or maybe son John? Where did Able live? Where could he be buried? Where is Clarissa Buried? This isn't in any books I can find , it doesn't seem to be in the local libraries. I suppose if one of you said "there is the spot", I'd be happy to go there , take a photo and die happy <G> ( in another 30 years!) Mary Harkey Russell bird@scrtc.com http://www.scrtc.com/~bird/
Since I will be leaving here on the 16th of June to go to Danville crossing Homecoming 2000, and am taking the family on a wild goose chase on the way there , via Washington DC and points in SC, NC and VA on the way... I will have to set a deadline to have all the Homecoming money and dinner reservations to me not later than the 15th..which with mail delivery what it is, need to have them postmarked not later than Monday , June 12th! The sooner the better, of course. I will have to let Ms Manners at the Lodge know en exact head-count for the catered fishfry, and the people doing the programs will need an idea how many to set up for and expect. OK? So... keep that PO BOX full! $10 each for the Homecoming activities $13.50 each for the fishfry...( over age 4) P O BOX 47047 Jacksonville FL 32247-7047 Make checks out to Danville crossing homecoming 2000 Cacky
Folks, I need a little favor. Somehow the Lodge at Paris Landing is showing less people with reservations there for the DCHomecoming 2000, June 22-24th than they did a month ago! I just spoke with Ms Manners there, and the best thing we can do is for each of you with confirmed reservations to let me know, so I will have your names, as a double-check that they credit Danville Crossing as a group . You others, still making reservations at the Lodge, BE SURE you tell them you are with Danville Crossing, AND also let me know. Lee Sanders Hoover... please reconfirm the suite withMs Manners , as she says she doesn't think she has a suite reserved for those nights! To book a room call the lodge at 1-800-250-8614 and if you ask for Ms Ann Manners, it might be best ( she is there days 10-7 CDT) so we are all in one part of the lodge and get credit for each of you toward the meeting room. Also, keep thinking about things for the silent auction. Almost anything genealogically-oriented or West-Tennessee crafts in good taste would probably be appropriate and sell. As the time nears and plans start will falling in place, I am getting SO excited! I hope the rest of you are, too! Cacky

List members, I am hoping that someone on the list with access to the 1860 Humphreys Co., TN Census will be willing to help me by doing a lookup. I am looking for the family of William C. MATLOCK b. abt. 1832 and his wife, Mary Ann "Poppy" CHOATE b. abt. 1841. They were married in 1855 in Dickson Co., TN but may be living in either Humphreys or Dickson in 1860. Thanks very much.
