I found on FamilySearch where a Jesse Walker married Caroline-no last name-in Humphrey's county abt. 1830. Is it possible for someone out there to do a look up and give me Caroline's maiden name? It would be so much appreciated. WE had to order another dozen Danville Crossing Homecoming teeshirts to fill the orders we had, so there are some still available. Unless someone e-mail me to mail-order them one, I will bring them to the homecoming . Also, I have been looking ALL OVER for shorts to match mine, and had about given up hope when I found them in the Men's department of the Big K-Mart here. They are Franklin brand, sell for $7.99 a pair, and are made of cotton knit and have side-seam pockets. I got Jimmy and me a pair ( Jill already has dk green jeans shorts)... so we are all set for the Homecoming! I thought some of you might be looking for them, too, so here's the tip where I found them. Cacky
OK! Now I need some help. Jo Anderson is the grandaughter of William Lunsford Parnell who married Hester Ann Sherrod. They had twelve children. When Elzie Batton, whose parents were Frederick BAtton and Mary Elizabeth Smith, died after the birth of Ecklas, Hester Ann nursed him. Jo is looking for the relationship between Solomon Parnell, who is part of our genealogy, and William Lunsford. She thinks that they were brothers. I do not have this information, but would really appreciate it if someone can help us. They were living and had their children at Blue Creek, Humphreys County, Tennessee where our Curtises, Buchanans, Smiths, Bells, etc. all were living. Can someone out there help us? Do any of you who are coming to DC Homecoming play an instrument ( portable, lightweight, .. Preferably a guitar, banjo, zither...???) who would be willing to play a couple of hymns for us at the Sunrise Service Sunday morning? Also, we have not found a minister who would be available. Is there any of you who would lead a nondenominational brief service,..mostly a few scriptures we have selected ( or pick some on the topic of family and perpetuating the faith of our (fore)fathers who set out long ago and settled the DC area.Several of us will take part, just need a " leader". Well, folks, we are getting down to the Nitty-Gritty on the plans for Danville Crossing Homecoming 2000! I hope all of you who are planning to come have mailed in your checks for the $10 for the 3 days ( or $5 a day if only able to join us for one day...but please DO come if you can even for just a day!) Everyone wanting to come to the fishfry will need to have mailed in $13.50 each ( over age 3) for it so I can let the lodge know in advance just how many to prepare for. If you haven't, get out your checkbook now, because it takes a few days.,.(. longer than I would have wanted it to, for sure,) for mail to get all the way to my little corner of the country, and I need to have all the checks deposited before I leave town next Friday ( 16th). Also, whether you are going to be at the Homecoming or not, if you want a teeshirt with our Danville Crossing logo on it, I need your order ASAP. In fact, if you haven't already, I will need you to e-mail me how many and what size now, and follow up with the check for $14 each ( and another $$3.20 if you need it mailed to you), so I can get more made if we need to. Right now there are 5 left, none in XL, BUT I can get them made in a couple of days' notice if it looks like we will need them.. but will have to get them by the dozen. I mailed 20 shirts off this morning and have 9 more ready to go tomorrow... If you sent your check and I received it, yours is on the way, or in the box to bring to the homecoming. A few checks have not come for ones people have requested, and they are set aside already with your names on them. I figure the checks will come this week. I sure don't want anyone to miss out! I didn't realize that there was an index for the Humphreys County Heritage books! I have scanned Volume I for Gartrells, but there's just so much. Does anyone have access to this? If you do and would be willing to look up a couple of surnames for me, please let me know. Ok folks, we are down to the countdown for the Homecoming, and I do hope it is as spectacular a success as last year's was, and everyone meets at least one new cousin, finds at least one ancestor and goes home with memories to last all year! Jan has arranged for such interesting programs that I believe the trip would be worth it, just for them. I have to have an exact head-count for the fishfry before I leave here on the 16th, so if any of you have not signed up and paid the $13.50, please do so ASAP! I also need the last of the $10 memberships for the 3 day event ( or $5 if you can only come for one day...) so we can have all the checks in the bank before we try paying our bills out of it. ;-) I will be phoning the tee-shirt printer as soon as I have all your orders in, by size; so if you want an original Danville Crossing shirt ( natural with our logo on it in dark green) , and have not e-mailed me, please do so NOW . I have requests for 44 so far. I am afraid if I wait until all the checks come, we might not get the shirts done in plenty of time, and they do not order the shirts to print until I tell him how many of what size. So e-mail me who you are , how many you want and what size, and then follow up with your check, please.( regular sizes $14 ea/ 1, 2, and 3X sizes $16) I will bring them to the homecoming for you who will be there. Anyone wanting one and not able to attend, I will mail your shirts by Priority mail, for an additional $3.25.(what it costs me).I will send them before I leave for Tennessee.( that would cover up to 3, a dollar more for the 4th one) Plans are in the works to have an " official" Photographer, and pictures of the Homecoming will be put on our site as soon as they are processed and the people are back home to do it. We are still working on whether a video or a scrapbook will be possible; will let you know. Anyone have any other questions I haven't answered here? Our P O Box for sending in registration, dinner money or teeshirt orders is: Danville Crossing Homecoming 2000 PO Box 47047 Jacksonville FL 32247-7047 and checks should be made out to Danville Crossing or Danville Crossing Homecoming 2000.. It dawned on us a while back that in making these teeshirts for the Danville Crossing Homecoming 2000 that we ought not put a date on them , so people who are a part of our Danville Crossing list but who are not able to come to the Homecoming might want one too. I have not recieved any orders from you all who can't come, so thought I ought to make this offer clear. They are GROUP shirts, as opposed to EVENT shirts. They are beige ( natural) and have the Danville Crossing Logo on the front in hunter green,. The logo is lovely..thanks to our artist-in-residence Jan, and her major struggles with the post office to successfully get a copy of it to me... It is a big old tree firmly rooted on the outline of Tennessee, and has " Danville Crossing: Sheltering the Roots of Tennessee" written across the state. So far I have 22 orders. The printer is making the screen now, and I will call in the number in each size the end of next week, so they will be finished in time. They will make them for us in child sizes, Xs(2-4) S(6-8), M (10-12) and Lg ( 24-16) and in adult S, M , L and XL, for $14 each, and the sizes IX, 2X, 3X and 4X are $16. sent the check and size information and your address to Danville Crossing homecoming 2000 PO Box 47047 Jacksonville FL 32247-7047 and include what you think postage would be, so I can mail it to you.. ( Priority mail in a small box is only $3.25,parcel post in an envelope might be a little less, but not as secure , but my experience is most parcel post is within a nickel of Priority anyway). We do NOT want anyone wanting a shirt to think they can only get it by coming to the Homecoming! I will deliver the ones to the people who are going to be there, but this is something we all might want to have.. Work schedules, school reunions, new babies, the sheer miles, budget restraints, ..any number of things can keep you from being able to attend the Homecoming this year , but if you want a teeshirt, just let me know!
