    1. Re: Korean US War Veteran
    2. Teresa Beech
    3. To all who read my open letter today,I appreciate the kind replies I have recieved and, thanks to one very kind lady, Marian Mitchell Jones, who lost her brother in the Korean War, and lost her husband when he was shot down in Laos, I now know how to send for a replacement marker from the War Department, for my father's grave. I would like to answer the questions I recieved, also. I sent this letter to the founder of eBay,an online site designed to help people get the best price on various collectibles, antiques, sports equipment, and the like that they would like to sell. Well, yesterday, they sold a grave marker that was intended to go on the grave of a Korean US War Veteran. It cut me to the quick, because of the loss of my father's marker. This was NOT the ONLY grave marker on the Auction Block. As a matter of fact, there were various Veteran's Markers, and some headstones that "SHOWED SIGNS OF BEING USED". I recieved an e-mail from a dear friend of mine this morning telling me of this outrage. When I read the part about the Korean US War Veteran marker, I lost ALL objectivity. I went to the eBay wesite and looked for this marker, hoping that it might be my father's and hoping I would have the resolve to refuse to buy it if it was.It would be unconcionable to do anything to encourage this. I will never know,I suppose, for it was bid on once and bidding closed yesterday. So,what you read was a copy of the email I sent to PIERRE OMIDYAR,THE FOUNDER OF eBay. Below is the "reply" I recieved, followed by a copy of the letter I sent this morning. It seems that everyone except Mr. Omidyar read the letter! Thanks for your patience and tolerance, Teresa Sue Jarrell Beech Thank you for writing to founder@ebay.com. This mailbox is for letters to the founder, all of which I will read. Unfortunately, I can't respond to every letter. Some letters and my responses will be selected for pub- lication, but if you need a direct response to your letter, please e-mail it support@ebay.com. Again, thank you for taking the time to write! Regards, Pierre Sir, > My name is Teresa Sue Jarrell Beech. My father > was William P. 1. Migration Map
    2. The basic program for the animated migration map can be obtained from goldbug.com for about $80. I picked it up a few months ago and it is the best tool I have found for genealogy. It does the same thing as the animated program does but state by state with each county named and located essentially year by year. Bob Rye

    3. We have two options for Saturday nites cookout/bbq... We can have the Lodge cater it.. or some volunteers and I will go to Paris and pick up a carry out from a bbq house and market for chips etc.. The advantage of the Lodge doing it is they provide it all. An all you can eat BBQ ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls coffee and tea. They provide plates , cups, condiments, etc,,, and set up. $11.00 plus tax and tip All you can eat BBQ chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls coffee and tea. They provide plates , cups, condiments, etc,,, and set up. $9.95 plus tax and tip. Hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls coffee and tea. They provide plates , cups, condiments, etc,,, and set up. $6.95 plus tax and tip. If I do it, I will have to order (pay in advance)... go get it ... have an ice chest and ice, supply condiments and plates, forks, and cups and soft drinks... I can keep it warm with the help of some good fire starters (vbg).. use grills at the park... and large alum. throw away pans.. NOW.. I really dont mind doing this IF I have help... REALLY. I can get pot salad and Baked beans at the BBQ house and pick up a veggie tray at Krogers... or where ever. The price is to be determined.. Probably the Paris Landing Lodge providing the food is most logical.. They did say they could get Pork BBQ... if that was what we wanted. OK,,,,,,,, Now it is thrown up in the air.. you all wake up and talk to me....or you could be eating chocolate gravy and biscuits.. <vbg> Cher

    1. Catholics in Humphreys Co
    2. Does anyone have information of the following: In 1842 Dr. Frederick Knapp of New Orleans purchased 20,000 acres in McEwen to establish a sheep ranch. In 1845, he donated part of this land to Bishop Miles (Bishop of Nashville) and advertised in the 1845 Catholic Almanac - that land was available on the Stage Road from Nashville to Memphis. Also, has anyone seen a newspaper article from the 1860's that states 5 families owned most of the land at McEwen - SHEEHAN, WALSH, BURCHIEL, O'GRADY, & HALPIN. This information was passed on to me and is not documented. Thanks, Leslie USLKLH@aol.com Looking for BURCHIEL/BURCHELL/BURCHILL & MCGUIRE
