Hello Hickman County List, I have just joined this list. Thank you, Gordon for your kind welcome. I am trying to track down my ggg grandparents, John M WILLIAMS and Maria (Mirah, Marie, Miricah) ROSSON (b.April 8, 1808). What I know is that they were both born in NC, started their family in NC, moved to TN and then to Gallatin County IL. Maria died in Posey County IN. They had the following children: Jemima WILLIAMS, b. Jan 14, 1844 in NC (m. GINGER, SHELL) Margaret WILLIAMS, b.July 11, 1846 in TN (m.Melton CAPEHART) Catherine Elizabeth WILLIAMS, b. Sept 1, 1848 in TN (m. Ira HUTCHINSON) Andrew G. WILLIAMS, b.abt 1852 in TN (m.Laura CAPEHART) In addition, family says that either John or Maria were married previously. They brought two daughters by this marriage with them to IL. All family knew is that they had come up from TN. Too many WILLIAMS, so I tried looking for ROSSON. Went through census records and found quite a few ROSSONs in Chatham County, NC. I started looking for Jesse ROSSON, since there was an older individual by this name who was born in NC a few houses away from Maria WILLIAMS when I found finally found her on the 1870 Gallatin County IL census. I figured he might be kin. Maria was a widow living with Jemima, Margaret, Catherine and Andrew. I know that John M WILLIAMS had been killed in the War Between the States. Don't know what state he served from or what side he fought for. Family says he is buried in TN. So, I then started looking in TN for this Jesse ROSSON. Found him in Hickman County, TN. Here I am. Figure they may have been here between 1844 and 1860's. My information is from census, death records and indexes and marriage certificates and indexes and from family. I have looked through many, many census records and have not found John and Maria together yet anywhere. Thank you for any thoughts, ideas, information or connections. Kathryne
