I am looking for information on a Phebe Forehand born April 3, 1802 in Davidson Co. TN daughter of John Forehand and Sarah Collins. She married a William Spence Oct. 24, 1820 and lived in Hickman Co., TN. She died Sept. 18, 1878 in Hickman Co., TN. She is buried next to her husband in the Methodist Church Cemetary in Little Lot. Her husband is William Spence born Aug. 9, 1795 but that is all I know until his death Sept. 16, 1869. Would appreciate any info on William and Phebe. Henrietta Ferree

>From Spence's History of Hickman Co : In 1845 William Spence lived where william Stanfill now lives. He was born in NC in 1792, and came to Harpeth, near the Newsome place in 1810. He was a poor boy without education , and worked here as a hireling for ten years. At the age of 28 he married Phoebe Forehand. John Davis, who lived in that neighborhood, induced him to visit Hickman Co , where Davis owned land. The result was he purchased from Davis 450 acres south of , and adjoining , Little Lot. He settled on this land in 1845. His sons were Miles, Mark, and John; his daughters, Narcissa, who married Robert Bratton Jr. ; Rebecca who marr. Gill Anderson; Nancy who marr Robert Dean; and Tennessee, who marr. James Harrington. The book also lists Mark A. Spence as a soldier in the 48th TN inf Co G CSA. In the book Hickman Co TN 1807 - 1993 the submitter states that Mark deserted in 1864. She also states that William's son John David was in the war, a prisoner from 1861 to 1865. It goes on to name the children of Mark A. Spence and Louise C. Gill. She also goes on to say that the Spences deeded a plot of land to the Little Lot Methodist Church. Thats pretty much all I could find.
