Hello Listers, I am in a quandary here, can anybody help? I believe that Josephine Isabel COCHRAN married Alexander Montgomery BELL on 9/16/1869 in Hickman County. According to IGI indices, she is the daughter of A.D. (Aaron?) COCHRAN and Nancy BOWEN. In reviewing some information, I came across a listing from the Hickman County Tennesse Cemetery Records, Part 1, by Jill Garrett and Iris H. McClain that has a COTHRAN Cemetery located on what was known as the old (blankedout) place in District 6 out in a field. It goes on to say that on 10.31.1965 Mrs. Baxter Murray (my father's Aunt Pearl) said she knew the following people were buried there. Bell, Montgomery Bell, Josephine Cothran, _____ (g-grandfather of Mrs. Murray) Cothran, _____ (g-grandmother of Mrs. Murray) Mrs. Murray pronounced the name as COTHRAN not COTHAM. Now here is my problem, dear old Aunt Pearl isn't around to ask. It is obvious that these are my kin, (would love to know where this cemetery is - does anybody have a clue?), but there are no COTHRAN's listed in the Hickman County Census that I can find. COCHRAN like it is listed in the IGI index (which is not known for its blazing accuracy) however can be found in the Census, in fact, I found an Aaron D. Cochran in the 1840 Hickman County Census. Does anyone have any ties to this family that may be able to help me work through this discrepancy? Your help is appreciated. Gordon Harbison Canton, Mich.
