I found a picture of him in 1948 as a member of the Hickman County High School basketball team in "Hickman County Tennessee: A Pictorial History". And int Old Marriage Records of Hickman Co TN Vol. 2, I found where J. W. Poteete married M. J. Bruce 14 Feb 1895. I don't know if either of these things help, but I hope they do.
