Hi. I was planning to order some microfilms for Hickman County to do a little serious research on my Wilson family, but this may be a very short search. I can't find any early records (pre-1844). I went through the FHC Library catalogue, and found no will book, marriage bonds, probate or court records before 1844 on microfilm. I'm guessing a court house fire? Does anyone know if records before that date exist somewhere? Also, where would I look for land records before 1808? The microfilms start with deed book G. I'm wondering what happened to A through F. I'd appreciate any advice from those of you who have done a lot of research in Hickman County about where to look for information. Margaret Curley icmc@accutek.com Minden, NV
I am not sure where the deed books would be found, but I can tell you that yes there was a courthouse fire during the Civil War. From what I have been told that all records were destroyed in the fire.
