April, A couple of those names came from the Swan Creek area of Hickman Co. (DUNCAN, BEASLEY). You stated that Sally HARRINGTON m. James McCALEB. My question is: Did James McCALEB die, leaving Sally a widow who remarried Theodorick W MILLER? Theodorick was thrice married: 1st to Mary "Polly" DUNCAN (d/o of William DUNCAN and Margaret KUTCH); 2nd to Sally McCALEB (who had children Paralee, Angeline, & Margarette before marrying T.W. and Mary after marrying him); and 3rd to Rachel (//) HARVEY (whom he married in Perry Co in Aug 23 1878). Any help? Donna
Would suggest you take a peek at this website http://www.xau.net/rosson/ May not help, but you may find a clue you can follow.
I've checked my Hickman County 1807-1993 book to no avail. No listing of a Jesse ROSSON or John or Maria WILLIAMS. SOrry. If I get a chance, I'll check my copy of SPence as well. In the Hickman County History Book, is there any mention of a Jefferson Pugh Monroe or Thomas Jefferson Monroe? He seemed to have gone by a different name at different times in his life. Thanks. Jerilyn
Hello Hickman County List, I have just joined this list. Thank you, Gordon for your kind welcome. I am trying to track down my ggg grandparents, John M WILLIAMS and Maria (Mirah, Marie, Miricah) ROSSON (b.April 8, 1808). What I know is that they were both born in NC, started their family in NC, moved to TN and then to Gallatin County IL. Maria died in Posey County IN. They had the following children: Jemima WILLIAMS, b. Jan 14, 1844 in NC (m. GINGER, SHELL) Margaret WILLIAMS, b.July 11, 1846 in TN (m.Melton CAPEHART) Catherine Elizabeth WILLIAMS, b. Sept 1, 1848 in TN (m. Ira HUTCHINSON) Andrew G. WILLIAMS, b.abt 1852 in TN (m.Laura CAPEHART) In addition, family says that either John or Maria were married previously. They brought two daughters by this marriage with them to IL. All family knew is that they had come up from TN. Too many WILLIAMS, so I tried looking for ROSSON. Went through census records and found quite a few ROSSONs in Chatham County, NC. I started looking for Jesse ROSSON, since there was an older individual by this name who was born in NC a few houses away from Maria WILLIAMS when I found finally found her on the 1870 Gallatin County IL census. I figured he might be kin. Maria was a widow living with Jemima, Margaret, Catherine and Andrew. I know that John M WILLIAMS had been killed in the War Between the States. Don't know what state he served from or what side he fought for. Family says he is buried in TN. So, I then started looking in TN for this Jesse ROSSON. Found him in Hickman County, TN. Here I am. Figure they may have been here between 1844 and 1860's. My information is from census, death records and indexes and marriage certificates and indexes and from family. I have looked through many, many census records and have not found John and Maria together yet anywhere. Thank you for any thoughts, ideas, information or connections. Kathryne

Todd, Thanks so much for the information. I think we are talking about the same family. It seems as if they were all tied together. I have that Drury's sister Sally Harrington married James McCaleb. The McCaleb's married Beasleys. The Beasley's married Sullivans, Clarks, Worleys and Perkins. They married Duncans who married the Raineys, who married Spence, who married Forehands, who married Tidwells who married Sullivans.....Its a big twisted bush not a family tree. Sheesh. Anyway, I had that James was a son of Drury but not who he married. I'll have to look in the marriage book and see what I can find. I got Both books, Spence's History of Hickman Co and Hickman Co TN 1807 - 1993 via the Hickman Co Historical Society. One very interesting piece of info in what you sent is that William came to the Harpeth area--this is where my ancestors the Forehand and Sawyer families lived in what is now Williamson Co., TN--they arrived around 1800/1804. It goes on to name the children of Mark A. Spence and Louise C. Gill. She also goes on to say that the Spences deeded a plot of land to the Little Lot Methodist Church. Thats pretty much all I could find. Henrietta, How sure are you that Phebe was born in Davidson County? The reason that I ask is that there were some Forehands who were in Hickman and Williamson Counties by 1812, but were in Kentucky in 1810 and North Carolina in 1800. They may be related to yours. I don't have any of them marrying a Colins or Spence, however. John Lambert Forehand married Mary Minerva Tidwell, daughter of Eli and Sarah Jane (Glass) Tidwell on 8 Aug 1861 in Dickson County. I have been told that this is the son of Lambert and Susan (unknown) Forehand and was born in 1800. But that would have him marrying at 60, which seems a bit old. Although, Mary Minerva Tidwell (age 21 at marriage) could have been a second wife. Anyway, the children of Lambert and Susan are: 1. Samuel (b. 1803 North Carolina) 2. Henry (b. 1806 N.C) 3. Jasper Newton (b. 28 Dec 1810 Muhlenburg, Kentucky, d. 2 Apr 1886 Cove, Polk County, Arkansas) m. on 14 Dec 1828 Williamson County, TN Mary Ann Hutton (b. 20 Mar 1805 NC d. 1876 Missouri) 4. Elihu (b. 1812 Hickman County, TN, d. Texas County, Missouri) 5. John Lambert (b. 1800 North Carolina) John Lambert Forehand and Mary Minerva Tidwell (b. Sept 1839) had one child that I know of. Margaret Alice Forehand (b. 6 Aug 1869 Hickman Co., d. 17 Jul 1905 Hickman County) m. James Wesley Buchanan on 30 Jul 1885 in Hickman Co. Anyone know of other children of John and Mary? I also have another Forehand branch that I believe is connected to the family of Forehand's above but cannot figure out how. That is John Isiah Forehand of Dickson County, TN who married Emma Lee Rainey, daughter of Richard Walter William Rainey, Jr. and Savannah Adeline Sullivan. If anyone knows who John's parents are, I would love to solve that puzzle. I am eager to discuss any of those named above. Thanks, April >I am looking for information on a Phebe Forehand born April 3, 1802 in >Davidson Co. TN daughter of John Forehand and Sarah Collins. Henrietta, I have that William Spencer was born in Pasquotank Co., N.C., but no further info on him. My Forehands branched off at Phebe's father, John, so I have not pursued that line further. I can offer Phebe's ancestors, if that will help. I don't have any descendants of Phoebe and William. Velma
