    1. [TNHICKMA] Knight & Johnson families
    2. Cindy K
    3. Hi all, I'm new to the list and my research has JUST taken me to Hickman County! I have just found that my 3rd great-grandparents were living in Hickman County in 1850 & 1860 (per the census). They were: John & Ardena Knight Children (at least some): *John *William *James Tabitha Jane (married C.W. Scott) Sarah E. Hugh Cintha A. (married William Harmon) Amanda Margaret Kazar (married Samuel Houston Johnson) Charles T. *=probably children with a first wife(?) In 1850, Ardena was 23 with child John being 11. An elderly family member believes that Ardena was married to a "Will Rogers" before John Knight and they had a son named "Will Rogers". A kind volunteer also provided me with: "CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS OF HICOTN -- It also says John Sr (Knight) died 18 Sep 1862 at Jackson MS. He was Pvt. - D Co., 9th Cav Bat. I was told, by family word of mouth, that Amanda Margaret said her family was "well to do" and had a large plantation. Her parents were not happy when she ran off to marry Samuel Houston Johnson in 1878. Samuel and Winnie Johnson Children (at least some): William John Evaline Robert Samuel Houston (married Amanda Margaret Kazar Knight) Jerome Nancy James Betty (married Thomas Mayfield) Henry Bascomb (married Bertie Ann Barnes) Some of these Johnsons moved on to Clay County, AR. And then after the death of Samuel (abt 1898)Amanda and some of the children moved on to Riverton, Fremont Co, WY. I'm VERY anxious to continue research and gather any information possible on these two families. If any of you are familiar with these names, I would love to hear from you!! Thank you, Cindy (in Northern CA) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Auctions - buy the things you want at great prices http://auctions.yahoo.com/

If Joel can be a nickname for another name, then perhaps this explains why I have never found a PEW/PUGH family wth a child named Joel. ==== TNHICKMA Mailing List ==== ============================== Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 Source for Family History Online. 1. [TNHICKMA] Beasley, Allen, Bates, Baird, Grimes
    2. Leonard J. McCown
    3. Hello Friends, I am Leonard J. McCown and have Hickman Co. roots...my grandmother Fannie Maude Beasley McCown came to Texas when she was about 14. I grew up hearing about Tennessee, Hickman Co., and Pinewood where she was born, as well as cousins, cousins, cousins. Her Beasley line goes like this...father, Robert Franklin Beasley, son of William Hilliard Beasley, son of James Baugh Beasley, son of Barnet Beasley...all of whom were in HCT. Have further back but not of interest here. Robert Franklin Beasley married Virginia Belle Allen, dau of Charles Moses Allen and Vivanah Anna Grimes (daughter of James W. Grimes and Nancy C.). William Hilliard Beasley married Narcissa Ann Bates, dau of Bazzel B. Bates and Sarah Baird (daughter of P. William Baird and Nancy Pullum). Bazzel was the son of Robert Bates and Elisabeth Perry who moved to HCT from Albemarle Co., Virginia. I have worked on these lines for many years and have a lot of cousins who have shared information with me. I follow the line as far as I can, and am always glad to find new cousins and share too. Notice the web page address at the foot of this e-mail. I collect information on down to date, but do not post information on living people, nor do I post notes. If you want to know where I got anything write me and if I know, I will certainly tell. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from new cousins. Leonard. -- Leonard J. 3. Wanda, In the book Hickman Co TN 1807 - 1993 the researcher states this: Edna Jenkins McCord descended from Jacob and Eliabeth Jenkins. (1719/1795) if Hampshire Co, VA ( now WVa). He was a full-blooded Englishman and a farmer. His son Jacob II, born 1763, served in the American Rev. War. He moved to Todd Co KY, prior to 1805, later moving to near Gainsboro, TN. and then to Hickman Co in 1805 on the head of Barren Fork of Lick Creek. He came to avoid a blood fued going on in KY. His son Amos Jenkins married Judy Anderson. Hope this helps, Todd -----Original Message----- From: wandas915@aol.com [mailto:wandas915@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2001 3:56 PM To: TNHICKMA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNHICKMA] Re: [TNHICKMA marriage records Terry McD; here is the Jenkins line I have found: Jacob JENKINS b 1719 VA Jacob JENKINS b 1763 VA Jacob JENKINS Jr. b 1806 Hickman Co., TN Amos Anderson JENKINS b 1830 Hickman Co., TN Jacob Josiah JENKINS b 1877 Hickman Co., TN William Buford JENKINS married Maryetta Alley in early 1940s in Hickman Co.,TN can anyone help me with this? thanks wanda ==== TNHICKMA Mailing List ==== Practice random acts of genelogical kindness ============================== Ancestry.com Genealogical Databases http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist2.asp Search over 2500 databases with one easy query!
