We are stumped at William Carrol Holliday. We do know that he was born in TN, possibly south of Paris TN. ( I am trying in Henry Co. as well as Carroll Co.). He appears to have served in the Confederacy although records of that service have not been discovered yet. After 1865 he lived and married in the Metropolis IL area. What I think we know: Born in TN, likely December 1844, possible Paris TN or further south. Possibly born to an un-wed mother, The Holliday name appears to be the mothers surname May have lived with a James Leek, Jr. family 'conscripted' off the street in Paris, TN after Civil War service located in southern IL Joppa area ( west of Metroplois, IL) married Josephine Brown died in Anna, IL Jan 27,1920 I am hopeful we can find a Bible record, church record, school record, possibly an indenture record, something that may establish who his mother was.
