    3. Here is SOME information... You Benton Countians!!! Friday nite is the Geneological Societies regular meeting...at 6:30 P.M. A perfect evening for you! It is at the Library meeting room in the Basement on Walnut Street. Brenda Griffith is our contact and is doing a bang up job gathering information for us. God Bless Brenda! Here is the plan. Because we are such a diverse group, we are having a loosly knit structure for this first gathering. Technically there are 5 counties. (But, you all have adopted Dickson and me...so it is 6 <bg>) You all have different goals and interests in these counties. Because of this, we are providing to you packets that will be available Thursday and Friday at a check in table for Danville Crossing at the lodge. These packets will have 'tourist' information, locations, times, contacts, a map, planned scheduel of our meetings, Cemetery locations, Funeral home locations to each county....and anything else we think may be beneficial. FRIDAY: We will meet at a hospitality room at the Lodge (it will be available for us at noon Thursday thru the morning of Sunday... we can meet there and spread out materials...) After the meeting, we will gather for Breakfast at the Paris Landing Lodge ..making personal plans.. ie: do you want to group up and go to the courthouses and catch them open on Friday and in the afternoon hit cemeteries or Libraries... it is a personal call. Friday night will be the meeting of Benton Counties Gen Soc.. 6:30 . Many of us will want to attend that. You will make your own meal arrangements.. as we will be scattered most of the day. Saturday: Morning You will be able to hit the Libraries, Cemeteries, Funeral homes and stalk around. The day is yours. to use... Saturday evening regroup as a whole at the park and have a BBQ or cookout and bon fire ... visit and share information.. Sunday meet for breakfast ... and decide if we want to do this again.. and when and how structured we want it to be. Another thing... I know some of you want the goodies... the shirts, or hats and more structure of activities. The costs of shirts and hats can be expensive since our group is not large enough to bring prices down( this year) .A lot of thought went into this... and the diversity of interest --will break the groups down to small numbers, several folks staggering in at different times and some only staying Saturday...... all affect our ability to create structure. Since we are all somewhat experienced with gen research... (and speakng for myself) I joyfully spend days and days in the courthouse at Charolotte eating peanuts and drinking a flat coke and not talking to anybody or seeing the light of day.. <vbg> We need to spend our time looking, reading, copying and photographing, and stone rubbing during the days..... we can visit in the evenings.... when we cant do these other things. Below is a list of the folks that are making a valiant effort to come. Please let me know if you want to come and are not on the list. It would help if you mentioned your county of interest, too.
