    1. [TNHENRY-L] Ada Jenkins
    2. Hi List: I've been a member of this list for about a month and have seen less than a dozen postings so I gather that y'all are an intimate bunch, "Not there's anything wrong with that". But I feel it's time to post my interest in the hope that someone there will have some clue about my grandmother, Ada, (Addie) Jenkins. Ada, according to a senior cousin of mine was born in Paris, Tennessee. That's what she had heard. My knowledge of her is scant at best, but miracles do happen! What I know for sure is that Ada married my grandfather, James Alfred Gummoe at Davidson Co. Tennessee in 1891. This is a matter of record. James and Ada had four children: Wade Gummoe, Edward Gummoe, John Corwin Gummoe (my father) and Ruth Gummoe. I have found James living in Indianapolis, Indiana in the 1900 Federal census, but enumerated as a border, not a husband. James by the way, came from Cornwall, England around 1880. He was born there in 1862; this also being a matter of record. The story goes that James jumped ship in New York and lived as an illegal alien for 30 years or so, but eventually became a naturalized citizen. But James is not my problem. Ada and James lived their senior years in Cleveland, Ohio, Ada passing on in 1936, before I was born, so I never knew her. I have no knowledge of siblings she may or may not have had. She has always been remembered by the family as a stern, scowling woman who almost never smiled, but in spite of her reputation, I'd like to at least find out a little more about her. Can anyone help? Warmest Regards, John Claude Gummoe
