    3. Hi Ruth, I am going to put this on the list, hoping it will explain to others why some people are not listed with a funeral home. Ridgeway was the other funeral home in Paris, way back when, but they did not open their business until 1936 according to the phone book. Just remember, many people back then were buried by family members and neighbors. They never say a funeral home, especially if they lived in the country. My mother-in-law has told stories of sitting up with the families and helping to prepare the bodies for burial. She and another lady used to sew the clothing for funerals, especially for the ladies. Many of the funerals were held in the home and the neighbors buried them in the cemetery. This was in and around Buchanan. My mother-in-law was born in 1917. She was helping to bury people when my husband was a baby and he was born in 1936 and they lived in that area until 1942. Both she and her husband were born there. Hope the above explains why some people are not listed in the funeral homes' books. Pat Lemonds
