What I posted in 1999 (below) needs some modification (IN CAPS BELOW)based on recent research: Robert Sharp Givens Married Susie Catherine Pewett (PEWITT not PEWETT) Jan 6, 1852 in Williamson Co, Tenn. Their oldest daughter, Harriet ("Hattie") Henry Givens married my great grandfather William Cook Cooper Nov 28, 1880 in Henry Co, Tenn. She (Harriet Givens) said that her grandfather was "a full blooded Irishman" who had Immigrated to (FROM) Maryland then moved and settled in Williamson Co, Tenn. (I NOW KNOW HER GRANDFATHER, ROBERT SHARP GIVENS' FATHER WAS EPHRAIM GIVENS) Robert and Susie Pewett Givens' Children's names as I know them: 1. Harriet Henry, "Hattie" b. 3-5-1861 My great grandmother 2. Polly Ann, b (1855 - MARRIERD JAMES PRITCHETT)??, According to my great aunt she married a "Pritchett." On the Tenn Marr records 1850-1900 There is a marriage recorded: Polly A. Givens and James W. Pritchett in Henry Co but the date is 1872. Her older sister, Harriet would have only been 11 then so, unless the 1872 date was mis-copied (1892?), it couldn't be her.(POLLY WAS OLDER) 3. Myra Elizabeth no dates; (AUG 13, 1865) was never married 4. Laura Bell b (1868)?? Married James A. Scoby 2-26-1891 Henry Co. 5. Fronie no dates; (MARCH 13, 1871) never married 6. Delia no dates; (MAR 1876)According to my great aunt she married a Ramsey 7. Joe Cephus no dates (DEC 20, 1852) 8. William Ephraim no dates (MAR 17, 1858) William Cook Cooper was born Feb 9, 1851 in Duck River, Tenn near Columbia. (ACTUALLY, HE WAS BORN IN HENRY COUNTY, TN) His parents were Blunt Cooper and Adeline Patent. Family mythology says they came from North Carolina but I'm not sure.
