The name Lemuel D. Simmons caught my interest. We have hit a brick wall on our gggrandmother, Allena(Helena, Galena, Alena) Simmons. Census shows she was b. 1796 in N.C. She married Miles Jackson b. 1799 Va. They were in Henry co. Tn. in the 1820's and came to Izard Co.Ar. before 1840. One son was named Lemuel DeBerry Jackson b. 13 July 1829 Tn. The name Lemuel was carried down through future generations. Does anyone connect or recoganize this family?? Would appreciate any help.
