I grew up in Wilson, Arkansas and my wife grew up in Blytheville. I am also doing some research in Yell County Arkansas, but a lot of the records have been destroyed (burned). Bill: My grandmother (Martha Ann Bates Guthrie) was raised in Ola, Yell County, Ar. Both parents died before she was a year old; she was the youngest of 8 children. The children were all taken in by different families. She was raised by John J. & Nancy (Beal) Morphis. Nancy was the Aunt of the man Martha Ann would later marry, when she grew up. He was John David Guthrie. When Martha Ann was 16 or 17, after John J. Morphis died, she and Nancy came to Izard County, and that's where she met my granddad. I am indirectly kin to the Harkeys from Ola, in Yell County.
