    3. Hello, Is it normal practice for volunteers to charge fees for their work? I thought volunteers worked for free..I have never until now been asked to pay for their services..I was just wondered if I should look elsewhere for my info, or indeed send the money & hope I actually receive what I am paying for..Or is this guy just scamming me?? Just curious as to what input any of you might have to share about the situation.. I have never encountered a volunteer asking me to pay for their services.. Would appreciate your comments..     3. I don't know what information you are looking for, but I would expect someone who put him/herself on a list of volunteers for look-ups to not charge. I certainly wouldn't. I am happy to do look-ups in the Henry County Cemetary volumes and in the Bible Records and can do some census records look-ups for no charge.     3. Joan, Someone who list himself as a "volunteer" should not expect to be paid. There are, of course, professional genealogists who charge for their services.
