Does Henry County have old Marriage Records? If so, would someone tell me if there is a record for William R. WIGGINS marrying Susan ?? in the 1840s. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Mildred Greenstreet
I don't have marriage records, but there is a record of one or possibly two W. R. Wiggins who served in the Civil War from Henry Co. (46th TN Inf., CSA). One, William R., of Co. D, was 40 yrs. old in 1862 when he was discharged for inguinal hernia. Another W. R. or R.W., Co. F, of the 46th, was said to have died of pneumonia as a POW in Camp Douglas, IL in June 1862 and is buried at the Oakwoods Cemetery in Chicago.
