Porter, Reading, writing, arithmetic as far as though the Rule of them and provide for them until they arrive to eighteen years of age. If said Agnes' death, the above land and slaves is to be divided equally between the above Mary H. Porter and Rebecca W. Porter, but if any more are born to Agnes by me, they are to have an equal amount of the abovenamed items. Said Agnes, is to provide and educate in the same manner out of the profits of the abovenamed. But if she, said Agnes, should marry again, she is to have her third of the above land off to her according to quantity and during her lifetime by my Executors. If they two named anytime should depart this life without any heirs, then part of the land is to enjoy their proportions at eighteen years of age. If said Agnes departs this life before said heirs become to eighteen years of age, the named land is to be rented, sold at discretion as my executors may think is best, and the aforesaid, hereof until said heirs become to eighteen years of age. William Porter, Jr., my son, I have given one hundred and forty acres of land, where he now lives including his improvements he made in part. I have bequeathed to him one thousand dollars in different entrys in my private entries books. I have bequeath to Thomas and Dianah White, one hundred and fifty-two dollars. I have given them in my private entry Book, different entrys will show. I have bequeathed to George and Sarah Wilcox and given them nine hundred and seventy-eight dollars and seven cents. Porter, eleven hundred and eighty-one dollars in my private entry book will show at different entrys. I have bequeathed and delivered James Porter nine hundred and seventy-six dollars in my private entry book will show at different entrys. I bequeath and have delivered to D. Wilson and Elisa, his wife of different entrys as it stands in my private entry book nine hundred and eighty dollars twenty-six cents. I have delivered of Benjamin R. Maclin and his wife, Malinda, now Malinda Maclin, eight hundred dollars as will show in my private entry book. I do bequeath to Joseph K. Porter one hundred acres of land in Henry County, about two miles west of Paris to be deeded to him when he calls for it, by my Executors, and three dollars and one servant boy called Alfred $400.00, making in my private entry book, seven hundred dollars. I bequeath to John C. Porter, as part of his legacy, one fifth of sale of land in Carroll County, 500 acres at three dollars per acre. His part will make, when selected, three hundred dollars. I bequeath to my son, George M. Porter, one fifth of 500 acres of land in Carroll County, when sum making three hundred dollars will show and servant boy called Austin at three hundred dollars in my private entry Book will show making two items. Six hundred dollars I bequeath to Agnes Porter, my lawful companion, so long as she remains a widow, the balance of my servants, not named, and property, lands I possess, not named, or bequeathed, is to be sold, and the proceed to be equally divided between my children. Porter, to be my Executors of this my last will and testament, and to convey it into execution according to the true intents and meaning thereof. Thomas Roher DeBruce William Porter Will Book C, Page 40 Codicil to the Will of William Porter, deceased I, William Porter, of the County of Henry and state of Tennessee, being in sound mind, but weak in body and knowing the uncertainty of life in this world, and the certainty of death, do make the following supplement to my will already made and written and wish the following to be observed and obeyed in as full and perfect manner as if it had been contained the original will that is to say, whereas, I have bequeathed to George W. Wilcox and Sarah, his wife, at divers times the sum total of nine hundred and seventy-eight dollars and seven cents, as may be seen in my private entry book, I now bequeath said George W. Wilcox fifty cents and I wish my Executors to loan as practicable to make the daughter, Sarah D. Wilcox, wife of said George W. He mentions in his will his "daughter or daughters" several times, making it appear that he had no sons at all.
