    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cox Bowden Thomason Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.henry/2308.5.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Kelly, Caught your post from Aug., 2003, stating that you could look up items in the Henry Co., TN books. If you're still out there, could you check on the following, at your convenience (glad to provide any additional details I might have; just ask). Thanks for your help!: I am looking for a George Cox, b. ca. 1832, who likely is the ancestor of my great grandfather, James Newton Cox; I know J.N. Cox was b. TN (but have never found out exactly where), on 28 Nov 1851. He later married Louisa Mildred Thomason, b. AR, 1848, and they moved to TX (where my grandfather and father, and I, were born). I note from information posted by an "Unknown" contributor on Ancestry.com that George married Luann F. Bowden in Henry Co., TN, on 21 Oct 1847 (so George would have been abt 15 or 16 when he married) -- if you have access to the Henry County records collection, I would appreciate a look-up of this marriage license, and I am glad to pay any expenses for copying and mailing (email me and I will provide snail mailing information) -- Thanks! George, acc. to the anonymous poster, appears to be the youngest child of a "Phebe," b. 1787 in SC; d. 21 Feb 1864 in Cottage Grove, Henry, TN (her husband's name unknown, but obviously he was surnamed "Cox"). Would you have any additional data on "Phebe," or her collaterals or descendants? James Newton Cox's D.C. (d. 01 May 1929, Wilson Co., TX) shows his father as: "George Cox," b. "Tenn." (informant on the D.C. was my great uncle, Berry A. Cox, James' eldest child), so I have good reason to believe that this George Cox, of Henry County, may well be my gr gr grandfather. Any other information on the Bowden families of Henry Co., TN also appreciated. Steve Cox Knoxville, TN sjcmsc@knology.net
