    3. Peggy, When I was a freshman in high school (many moons ago), we had to do our family tree in science class. In order to get an A, we had to do 5 generations..Well, I had no problem doing that..Amazingly I still kept mine all these years..Then when my kids got freshman, they had to do the same project..Luckily I still had mine, but it took some time to get my husband's side..no one wanted to be bothered..After all these years, I knew I had them, but I could not remember where I had put them for safe keeping!! Finally after looking in every possible hiding place, I found them..Still to this day do I wonder if I stopped at 5 generations because that is all I needed to get my A...Back then I'm sure I could have gotten much more, but I had no interest in doing that..Why did I care to know those old dead people?? I am so thankful that I am a total packrat & kept them all these years..It was better than any Christmas I ever had reading through all those old names & dates..It was sooo cute...my granddaughter said, "Look NaNa, the paper makes it look old." I had to laugh & explain to her...IT WAS OLD!!! Her mother does all that scrapbooking & always buys antique paper..So, she though her NaNa did the same..Don't you love um??? My husband keeps telling me that I am wasting my time & that no one that I leave behind will care anything about my genealogy..I so hope he is wrong. I have tried to make it all interesting enough to my granddaughters that they will want to treasure all my hard work..My oldest granddaughter shares my love of the old photos, and my middle 1 the graveyard hopping..I hope I had made a good enough impression on where they came from to want to be able to share it with their families 1 day..I sure hope so!! 3. Joan, Your husband may think noone will be interested but I think they will. I never thought I would be into this as much as I am but I love it. For all of the ones who kept such good records, it has made such a difference to me. Believe me, there is always one person or more that you are helping and you may never even know. My husband doesn't care much for it either but he knows how much it means to me. Joan, you are helping alot of people. 3. Thanks for the kind words. Like you, I do believe all the work I have done will not be in vain. If so, if makes no difference because I am having soooo much fun doing it all. I have met the nicest people online, and it seems where ever I go to do research I run across someone that is somehow related to me..It is amazing!! All you have to do is drop a few names & someone comes up to you saying they have that same name in their gene pool..Seems I can't go to a library without meeting a distant relative..I only wish I have of had the God given sense to be interested in all this many years ago..But it is the generosity of strangers that never ceases to amaze me..I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, so there is definitely some reason for my driving obsession of finding my ancestors..Maybe the reason is only to make sure my granddaughters one day know who & where they came from...but that is good enough for me. I wish someone had cared enough about me to leave my ancestry behind..It definitely would have been much easier..But as another researcher at the library told me....."What would be the fun in that if it were easy?" He does have a point!! I do love the challenge, but I also love to get rewarded every so often... Thanks, Joan Broach Morris P.S. My little granddaughter has some of the names memorized..She loves some of those old names..I wouldn't be surprised if some of those old family names don't show up for some of her future children, my great grandkids..Wouldn't that be great??? That would be more payment than I ever thought possible!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim" <Kimcagle@hotmail.com> To: <tnhenry@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 17, 2007 7:06 PM Subject: Re: [TNHENRY] GENEALOGY IN SCHOOLS > Joan, > Your husband may think noone will be interested but I think they will.
